''Music for Pets'' is an album by the band Z, led by Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa, released in 1996. The creation of the album was a troubled one, with multiple recording sessions interrupted by the death of Frank Zappa, the creation and recording of new material based on what was popular at the time, and delays in the release causing several versions to be released at various times. This resulted in the "French Version" the "US Version", and the "Bone-Us Version" which was a CD of out-takes and unreleased material. When all is counted, ''Music for Pets'' underwent over a year of recording sessions, five re-mixes, three different sequences, and at least three different main engineers. Bryan Beller (born May 6, 1971) is an American bass guitarist known for his work with Joe Satriani, The Aristocrats, Dethklok, Mike Keneally, Steve Vai, James LaBrie of Dream Theater and Dweezil Zappa, as well as his four solo album releases, ''View'' (2003), ''Thanks In Advance'' (2008), ''Wednesday Night Live'' (2011), and the progressive double concept album ''Scenes From The Flood'' (2019)''.'' Dweezil Zappa (born Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa, September 5, 1969) is an American rock guitarist and occasional actor. He is the son of musical composer and performer Frank Zappa. Marco Minnemann (born 24 December 1970) is a German multi-instrumentalist and composer who primarily plays drums. Career Minnemann has released over a dozen solo albums as drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist, and performed on over 100 studio albums with dozens of artists and groups. Guthrie Govan (; born 27 December 1971) is a British guitarist and guitar teacher, known for his work with the bands the Aristocrats, Asia, GPS, the Young Punx and the Fellowship, as well as his solo project Erotic Cakes. More recently, he has collaborated with Steven Wilson and Hans Zimmer. He is a noted guitar teacher, working with the UK magazine ''Guitar Techniques'', Guildford's Academy of Contemporary Music, Lick Library, and formerly the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. The Aristocrats (band)
The Aristocrats are a rock group formed in 2011. The instrumental power trio consists of Guthrie Govan, Bryan Beller, and Marco Minnemann. The group name is inspired by the The Aristocrats (joke), Aristocrats joke and consequently the song titles on their eponymous debut album are rife with salacious double-entendres. Formation and history The band was formed after a wildly enthusiastic response to a concert performance at The Anaheim Bass Bash during the NAMM Show, Winter NAMM show in January 2011. The trio had just one rehearsal before the concert but still performed well and amazed the audience as well as themselves. Originally the guitarist for that one-off show was to be Greg Howe, replaced by Guthrie Govan at the last moment. Dethklok is a fictional melodic death metal band featured in the Adult Swim animated television series ''Metalocalypse'', known for its satirical or parodic lyrical themes. The first official Dethklok album was released on September 25, 2007, entitled '' The Dethalbum''. The album debuted at number 21 on ''Billboard'' magazine's Top 200 list. Michael Joseph Keneally (born December 20, 1961) is an American guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist and composer. Keneally leads his own band, and is also known for a stint with Frank Zappa and for extensive work as a session musician with a range of performers. Early years and musical influences Keneally started playing music at the age of 7 when he received an electric organ for his birthday. He also received a guitar on his eleventh birthday, and plays bass and drums as well.
