Douban.com (), launched on 6 March 2005, is a Chinese online database and social networking service that allows registered users to record information and create content related to film, books, music, recent events, and activities in Chinese cities. Douban is named after a hutong in Chaoyang District, Beijing where the founder lived while he began work on the website. Douban was formerly open to both registered and unregistered users. For registered users, the website recommends potentially interesting books, movies, and music to them in addition to serving as a social network website such as WeChat, Weibo and record keeper. For unregistered users, the website is a place to find ratings and reviews of media. Douban has about 200 million registered users as of 2013 and some Chinese authors as well as critics register their official personal pages on the site. GAI (musician)
Zhou Yan (born March 22, 1987), more commonly known by his stage name GAI, is a Chinese rapper, singer and songwriter. GAI was the co-champion of the first season of '' The Rap of China'' and is one of the more prominent hip hop musicians from Chongqing. Early life GAI was born in Weiyuan County, Neijiang City, Sichuan Province. He relocated to Chongqing and joined the Chongqing hip-hop rap label GO$H, spending time in the city's underground clubs. Chinese hip hop (), also known as C-Rap, is a subgenre of Chinese music. Some of the earliest influences of hip-hop in came from films such as '' Beat Street'' (1984) which entered China on video tape via embassy workers or foreign businessmen and their families. History The first DJ in China who played hip hop music on a daily basis was a resident at the first Chinese nightclub Juliana's in Beijing in 1984. Li Zhi (born November 13, 1978) is a mainland Chinese music artist who was banned from People's Republic of China in April 2019. According to the ''China Daily'' newspaper published in 2015, Li was a music artist who sold out his concert tickets quickly. His 2014 New Year concert I/O sold out all 3,600 tickets in 13 minutes.
