Musgrove Mill State Historic Site
Musgrove Mill State Historic Site was the site of the Battle of Musgrove Mill, an action in the American Revolutionary War, which occurred on August 19, 1780, near the Enoree River, on what (in the 21st century) is the border between Spartanburg, Laurens, and Union Counties in South Carolina, approximately seven miles from Interstate 26. In the August 1780, a group of 200 Patriot militiamen attempted to strike what they thought was an equal number of Loyalists camped near a ford on the Enoree River. The Loyalists, however, had recently been joined by 300 more, two hundred of them provincial regulars from the British post at Ninety Six, South Carolina. Once discovered, the Patriots were unable to either retreat or make a frontal assault. Charlton Musgrove
Charlton Musgrove is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, situated north east of Wincanton. The village has a population of 398. The parish includes the hamlets of Barrow, Holbrook, Southmarsh, and part of Shalford. History In 1066 the holder of the manor was Godman but passed to Robert FitzGerold by the time of the Domesday Book in 1086. The parish of Charlton Musgrove was part of the Norton Ferris Hundred. In 1861 the Dorset Central Railway opened a standard gauge track through the western side of the parish, joining Templecombe with Cole. It was linked to Glastonbury in the following year by the Somerset and Dorset Railway and was double lined in 1887. The line was closed in 1966. Governance The parish council has responsibility for local issues, including setting an annual precept (local rate) to cover the council's operating costs and producing annual accounts for public scrutiny. Musgrove Block
The Musgrove Block is a historic commercial building at 2 Main Street in the center of Andover, Massachusetts. The three-story brick building was built in 1895 on the site of a former town green, and forms part of Andover's central Elm Square intersection. The building exhibits Romanesque Revival styling, featuring granite trim elements and ornate brick detailing. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Description and history The Musgrove Block occupies most of a roughly trapezoidal lot on the east side of Elm Square, the six-way road intersection at the heart of downtown Andover. It is a three-story red brick building, with commercial storefronts in the ground level, and office space on the upper floors. Musgrove Evans House
The Musgrove Evans House is a private residence in Tecumseh, Michigan, USA. It was designated as a Michigan Historic Site on October 29, 1971, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 16, 1972. It is recognized as the oldest residential structure in Lenawee County and one of the oldest in the state of Michigan. History Surveyor Musgrove Evans (1785-1855) originally platted Tecumseh in 1824 and built a crude log cabin. In 1826, Evans built this modest house at what is now the corner of Ottawa Street and Chicago Boulevard for his personal dwelling and for use as an inn for travelers. Musgrove's wife Abigail "Abi" Brown Evans, for whom a local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was later named, died in the early 1830s.
