Juršče
Juršče (, formerly ''Jurišče'', in older sources ''Juršiče'', german: Jurschitz) is a village east of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. Name Juršče was first mentioned in written sources as ''Jurshiz'' and ''Jurschiz'' in 1763–87. The name (a feminine plural) is derived from ''*Jurišiči'', a plural form of the patronymic ''*Jurišič'', based on the personal name ''Juriša''. The name ''Juriša'' is derived from ''Jurij'' 'George', which also coincidentally matches the patron saint of the village church. However, there is no direct connection between the village name and the church name. The village was officially named ''Jurišče'' until 2007, when the name was changed to ''Juršče''. Šilentabor
Šilentabor (; in older sources also ''Tabor'', german: Schillertabor) is a small settlement north of Zagorje in the Municipality of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. It lies on a 751 m high hill called Šilen Tabor, which is a part of ''Slavniški ravnik'', a hill chain that separates the Pivka Basin from the Reka Valley. Name The name of the settlement was changed from ''Tabor'' to ''Tabor nad Knežakom'' in 1955. The name was changed again to ''Šilentabor'' in 2000. The name originates from the time of Turkish invasions, when it was used as a shelter from Turkish soldiers. At that time, ''tabor'' meant 'shelter' and the word ''silen'' used to mean 'strong'. There are also some unofficial names, such as ''Šilentabor nad Zagorjem''. History There are some finds that show there were two hillforts from the Iron Age (around the eighth century BC) along the ridge, which were later used by the Romans: Šilentabor and Gradišče. Palčje
Palčje (, in older sources ''Paličje'', german: Palitschje) is a village east of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. Geography North of the village lies an intermittent lake named Lake Palčje. It is the largest among the Pivka lakes, with an average maximum water area around . The highest elevations are in the Javornik Hills in the far eastern part of the settlement's territory, at Kozlovka Peak (''Vrh Kozlovke'', ), Mount Kalič (), and Mount Lamovšek () above the small Prevale Valley. Name Palčje was attested in written sources in 1498 as ''Palitschach''. The medieval transcription indicates that today's name (a neuter singular) is derived from the accusative plural demonym ''*Paličane'', derived from the common noun ''*palič'', likely meaning 'small lake' (cognate with Lake Palić, Serbia), a diminutive of the Slavic noun ''palъ'', preserved in the Slovene common noun ''pal'' 'mud' (and cognate with German ''Pfuhl'' 'puddle', English ''pool''). The name thus ...

Neverke
Neverke () is a village west of Pivka in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. Name Neverke was attested in written sources in 1763–67 as ''Na Verscze'', ''Navershze'', and ''Versecz''. The 18th-century transcriptions of the name indicate that they are a distorted form of the fused prepositional phrase ''*na Vršce'' 'on the small peak', whereas today's form of the name may be derived via Italian from the phrase ''*na Vrhe'' 'on the peak'. In both cases, the likely references is Vrhe Hill () immediately east of the village. History The Italian authorities built extensive military housing in Neverke in 1933 to maintain soldiers and workers engaged in producing gunpowder and filling munitions with gunpowder. During the Second World War, after the Italian capitulation The Armistice of Cassibile was an armistice signed on 3 September 1943 and made public on 8 September between the Kingdom of Italy and the Allies during World War II.
