Municipal Theatre Of Ho Chi Minh City
Saigon Opera House (, ), officially named Ho Chi Minh City Ballet, Symphony, Orchestra and Opera (), is a municipal opera house in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Like other French-built opera houses during French colonial period, including Hanoi Opera House and Haiphong Opera House, it is an example of French Colonial architecture in Vietnam. Designed by French architects as the ''Opéra de Saïgon'', the building was completed in 1900. The 500-seat building served as the house of the unicameral National Assembly from 1956 until 1967 and subsequently as the seat of bicameral chambers: Lower House (Hạ Nghị Viện) and a Senate or Upper House (Thượng Nghị Viện) of the National Assembly of South Vietnam. It housed the People's Congress of Deputies (Đại hội đại biểu Nhân dân) of the Republic of South Vietnam in 1975. It was not until 1976 that it was again used as a theatre. Caravelle Hotel
The Caravelle Hotel Saigon is located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The hotel was opened to the public on Christmas Eve 1959, when the city was known as Saigon. It was named after the Sud Aviation Caravelle, a jet airliner operated by the hotel's owner Air France at that time. Contemporary journalists noted its use of Italian marble, bullet-proof glass and a "state-of-the-art air-conditioning system and a Berliet private generator." The hotel’s modern design was the work of a Vietnamese architect, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, a graduate of École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Hanoi. The original ten-story building is now adjoined to a 24-story tower that forms the bulk of the new property. However, the Saigon Saigon Rooftop Bar has changed little since 1959. French Cochinchina
French Cochinchina (sometimes spelled ''Cochin-China''; ; , chữ Hán: ) was a colony of French Indochina from 1862 to 1949, encompassing what is now Southern Vietnam. The French operated a plantation economy whose primary strategic product was rubber. After the end of the Japanese occupation (1941–1945) and the expulsion from Saigon of the Communist-led, nationalist Viet Minh in 1946, the territory was reorganized as the Autonomous Republic of Cochinchina by the French, a controversial decision that helped trigger the First Indochina War. Ho Chi Minh City Hall, officially called the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and People's Committee Head Office (), is the city hall of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is located in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City downtown, bounded by Pasteur, Lý Tự Trọng, Đồng Khởi, and Lê Thánh Tôn streets, with its front facade facing Nguyễn Huệ Boulevard square.
