Muhammad Qasim (field Hockey)
Muhammad Qasim (1974–2006) was a field hockey player from Pakistan who had played in the Olympics. Qasim started his career in the 1998 world cup, represented Pakistan in the 2000 Sydney Olympic as well as two Commonwealth games - as well as other events. Qasim who earned 81 caps for Pakistan, made his last international appearance at the 2004 Azlan Shah Cup. Death Qasim was diagnosed with abdominal cancer whilst receiving treatment after suffering injuries during training. Initially he received treatment at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre ( ur, , abbreviated as SKMCH&RC/SKMCH) is a cancer centre with locations in Lahore and Peshawar, Pakistan. The Pakistan national field hockey team ( ur, ) represents Pakistan in international field hockey. Having played its first match in 1948, it is administered by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), the governing body for Sport in Pakistan#Field hockey, hockey in Pakistan. It has been a member of the International Hockey Federation, International Hockey Federation (FIH) since 1948 and was founding member of the Asian Hockey Federation, Asian Hockey Federation (ASHF), which was formed in 1958.
