Muhammad Iqbal (athlete)
Muhammad Iqbal (12 July 1927 - March 1996) was a Pakistani hammer thrower who competed in the 1952, 1956, and 1960 Summer Olympics. He is regarded as one of the most renowned hammer throwers in Pakistan’s history. Biography Like many Pakistani athletes in the country's early years, Iqbal was an employee in the Pakistan Army. He also participated in the World Military Games. Iqbal won the silver medal at the 1954 Asian Games held in Manila. At the 1958 Asian Games, in Tokyo, his gold-medal-winning throw of 60.96 metres was an Asian Games record. Iqbal qualified for the finals in both the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics, where he finished 11th and 12th respectively. At the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta, Iqbal secured the bronze medal. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal (; ; born 23 December 1952) is a Bangladeshi science fiction author, physicist, academic, activist, former professor of computer science and engineering, and former head of the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). He achieved his PhD from University of Washington. After working 18 years as a scientist at California Institute of Technology and Bell Communications Research, he returned to Bangladesh and joined Shahjalal University of Science and Technology as a professor of Computer Science and Engineering. Muhammad Iqbal Mauladad (1926–1970), nicknamed Bali, was a big game hunter in Kenya. He was born into a rich and influential family of Kenyan Asians but, rather than joining the family engineering business, he became a professional hunter, leading parties on safari to hunt large animals, especially elephant. He was the first Muslim to be recognised as a white hunter and won the Shaw & Hunter trophy for best professional guide in 1966. He also competed in the Safari Rally, placing fourth in 1961.
