Mughal-e-Azam
''Mughal-e-Azam'' () is a 1960 Indian Epic film, epic historical drama film produced and directed by K. Asif. Starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, and Durga Khote, it follows the love affair between Mughal Empire, Mughal Prince Salim (who went on to become Emperor Jahangir) and Anarkali, a court dancer. Salim's father, Emperor Akbar, disapproves of the relationship, which leads to a war between father and son. The development of ''Mughal-e-Azam'' began in 1944, when Asif read a 1922 play called ''Anarkali,'' by the playwright Imtiaz Ali Taj, which is set in the reign of Emperor Akbar (1556–1605). Production was plagued by delays and financial uncertainty. Before its principal photography began in the early 1950s, the project had lost a financier and undergone a complete change of cast. Grand Mughal
Grand Mughal or Mogul, also Great Mughal (), is a title coined by Europeans for the ruler of the Mughal Empire of India. The Mughals themselves used the title ''Padishah''. The title is especially associated with the third in the line, Akbar the Great (1542–1605). It is said that the Portuguese called Akbar the Grand Mughal and sent Jesuit missionaries to convert him to Catholicism. (In the same way, the Ottoman sultan was known as the "Grand Turk".) The Mughal empire was romanticized in Europe, particularly from the sixteenth century onward. The empire's court at Agra, for instance, was often described in glowing terms. Mughal-e-Azam (soundtrack)
''Mughal-e-Azam'' is the soundtrack album for the 1960 film of the same name directed by K. Asif. The soundtrack was composed by music director Naushad, and the lyrics were written by Shakeel Badayuni. Background As with most of Naushad's soundtracks, the songs of ''Mughal-e-Azam'' were heavily inspired by Indian classical music and folk music, particularly ''ragas'' such as ''Darbari'', ''Durga'', used in the composition of "Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya", and ''Kedar'', used in "Bekas Pe Karam Keejeye". He also made extensive use of symphony orchestras and choruses to add grandeur to the music. The soundtrack contained a total of 12 songs, which were rendered by playback singers and classical music artists. These songs account for nearly one third of the film's running time. Mughal-e-Azam () is a Broadway theatre, Broadway-style Musical theatre, musical based on the 1960 Bollywood film Mughal-e-Azam, of the same name, directed by K. Asif and produced by Shapoorji Pallonji. The musical was directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and produced by Shapoorji Pallonji Group. Based on the love story between Mughal Empire, Mughal Prince Salim and courtesan Anarkali, ''Mughal-e-Azam'' portrays the conflict faced by Mughal Emperor Akbar: his responsibility towards the future of his empire and his duty as the father of a beloved son. It was the first large-scale Indian Broadway-style musical, and was in production for ten months. The show was well received by critics in the media and entertainment industry. In 2017, it won seven out of the fourteen BroadwayWorld India Awards including Best Play, Best Director, and Best Costume Design. Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam
'' Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam'', is a 2008 Indian Hindi-language crime comedy film about a group of actors who attempt to prevent an underworld conspiracy from destabilizing the Indian government. The film is set in 1993 after the communal riots that followed the demolition of the Babri Masjid. The film stars Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat and was directed and written by Sanjay Chhel. The movie is loosely based on the 1983 movie '' To Be or Not to Be'' which itself was based on the 1942 movie of the same name. Plot When the Kalakar Theatre Company, a theatre group in Goa, attempts to stage a political drama, the local authorities close down the play and force them to perform a more traditional play, a stage version of ''Mughal-E-Azam''.
