In spite of this, the single still managed to reach #59 in the UK singles chart, only six places down from its predecessor. Their music is a fusion of alternative rock and heavy metal, as their songs cover a variety of styles, ranging from heavy and upbeat, such as their 2005 single " Blamethrower" to slower, more melodic songs such as their 2004 single " Moving to Blackwater". The former style of song often featured vocalist Jamie Lenman switching between shouting and whispering, a technique often used in heavy metal and post-hardcore music. Xtra Mile Recordings are a British independent record label based in London, England. The label was founded in 2003 by Charlie Caplowe and they release an eclectic mix of genres with a focus on rock and folk. History The label first signed the artists Million Dead and Reuben in 2003 and subsequently released Frank Turner's solo albums after the split of Million Dead in 2005. While signed with Xtra Mile, Frank Turner has gone on to perform at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and sell out Wembley Arena. Jamie Lenman
Jamie Edward Lenman (born 9 November 1982) is an English musician and illustrator. He was the lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter for British alternative rock trio Reuben, from 2001 to 2008 whilst also working as an illustrator, which upon Reuben disbanding he made his primary focus. In 2013, Lenman began releasing and performing as a solo artist and has gone on to release four studio albums and one cover album. As an illustrator, Lenman worked full-time for The Guardian from 2007 until 2014. He has also frequently contributed to the Doctor Who Magazine under the pseudonym ‘Baxter’, releasing a collection of his work so far for the magazine called ‘Whoah!’ in 2014. Early life Lenman grew up in Camberley, Surrey, England with his mother and father. At a young age he began reading his uncle's collection of Peanuts, as well as reading Garfield comics which influenced him to start drawing.
