Mount Murray is a hill above sea level on the Isle of Man located at the northern end of Santon, near the boundaries with Marown and Braddan parishes. It is named after Lord Henry Murray, 4th Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man. Often referred to simply as The Mount and formerly as Cronk Glass ''(green hill),'' Mount Murray is home to the Chibbanagh Plantation and nine of the eighteen holes of the Mount Murray Golf Club. History The hill was originally known as ''Ais Hólt'', meaning Holt's Hill, and giving rise to derivations of the name: ''Ash hole'' (1703), ''Ashold'' (1734) and ''Ashole'' (1739). Several families of the latter name lived in the Castletown area in the 16th century. It was a Norse surname and is still found in Kildare and Wicklow, Ireland. Mount Murray is a mountain summit in the Spray Mountains range of the Canadian Rockies in Alberta, Canada. The mountain is situated in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park of Kananaskis Country. Its nearest higher peak is Mount French (Alberta), Mount French, to the south-southwest. Mount Murray can be seen from Alberta Highway 742, the Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail. __NOTOC__ History The mountain was named in 1918 for Archibald Murray, General Sir A. J. Murray, (1860-1945). Mount Murray () is a sharp granite peak, high, standing west of Bruce Point on the north side of Mawson Glacier in Victoria Land, Antarctica. Mount Murray was first charted by the British Antarctic Expedition, 1907–09 (BrAE) which named it for James Murray, biologist with the expedition. Location Mount Murray is just north of the Mawson Glacier near its mouth on the Ross Sea, to the east. It is northeast of the Walker Rocks, east of Mount Brocklehurst and south of Mount Smith. It is in the Prince Albert Mountains, north of the Kirkwood Range. Nearby features Walker Rocks . Mount Murray Railway Station
Mount Murray is a heritage-listed former railway station in Mount Murray on the Unanderra to Moss Vale railway line in New South Wales, Australia. The station is listed on local and NSW State Heritage Registers as a rare surviving example of small station infrastructure. The platform is located on a passing loop, which is still in use today. History The station was opened with the line on 20 August 1932, as part of the war effort for a long crossing loop for heavy World War II traffic. The platform was constructed from pre-cast concrete and the single small station building was of timber. The crossing loop was reopened and extended to following the installation of CTC in the 1980s. Since September 2008, signalling functions for the crossing loop through the station and the adjoining main line have been managed by ARTC's network control centre in Junee. Aorangi Terrace, commonly known as "Henman Hill", alongside a series of other nicknames, is a mostly grassed banked area in the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club where, during the annual Wimbledon tennis championships, crowds of people without show court tickets can watch the tennis matches live on a giant television screen at the side of No. 1 Court.
