Morgan Stickney (ice Hockey)
Morgan Stickney (born January 18, 2008) is an American ice hockey goaltender for Shattuck-Saint Mary's. She was the first female American player to be selected in a Canadian Hockey League draft. Playing career Stickney attends Shattuck-Saint Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota. During the 2022–23 season, as a freshman, she posted a 23–4–3 record with a 1.52 goals-against average (GAA) and .928 save percentage. During the 2023–24 season, as a sophomore, she posted a 28–0–2 record with a 1.55 GAA and .932 save percentage. On May 11, 2023, the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL) selected Stickney in the tenth round, 215th overall, in the 2023 WHL Draft. She was the second female player to be drafted by a CHL team, after Chloe Primerano the previous year, and the first female American player drafted. Lausanne Hockey Club is an ice hockey team based in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland, which competes in the National League (NL). During the 2004–05 NHL lockout, the HC Lausanne signed National Hockey League players Martin St. Louis and Andy Roach. The team plays its home games in the 10,000-seat Vaudoise Aréna. International Hockey League (1945–2001)
The International Hockey League (IHL) was a minor professional ice hockey league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1945 to 2001. The IHL served as the National Hockey League (NHL)'s alternate farm system to the American Hockey League (AHL). After 56 years of operation, financial instability led to the league's demise. Las Vegas Thunder
The Las Vegas Thunder were a professional ice hockey team competing in the International Hockey League. The team's home rink was at the Thomas & Mack Center. They began play in the 1993–1994 season, folding on April 18, 1999. The demise of the franchise was precipitated by the refusal of UNLV officials to negotiate with team owners regarding a new agreement to continue playing at the Thomas & Mack Center after the 1998–1999 season. Without a facility that was suitable even for temporary use, the Thunder were forced to shut down. The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos are the intercollegiate athletic teams representing the University of California, Santa Barbara.
