Monument To The Miner (Guardo)
The Monument to the Miner (in Spanish: ''Monumento al Minero'') is an architectural complex located in the town of Guardo, in Palencia, Spain. It is a 4 m-high bronze figure erected on a concrete pedestal that represents mining scenes. The complex, which is completed by a pond, was inaugurated in July 1975, and the sculpture is the work of the sculptor . It is a tribute to the figure of the miner and is considered the most emblematic monument of the town. Guardo
Guardo is a town and municipality situated in the Montaña Palentina region in the far north of the province of Palencia, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. As of 2023, the municipality had 5653 residents, making it the third most populated settlement in the province. The Palencia mining basin is a Spanish coal mining area located on the southern slope of the Cantabrian Mountains, Cantabrian mountain range. It owes its name to its location, in the north of the province of Palencia, in the region of Montaña Palentina. Its main Mining, exploitations are Bituminous coal, black coal and anthracite. Velilla Power Plant
Velilla Power Plant was a coal-fired power plant near the village of Velilla del Río Carrión in the province of Palencia, community of Castile and León, Spain. Velilla Power Plant had two generating units with a capacity of 148 MW and 350 MW. The first unit was put into operation in 1964, and the second in 1984. In 2008, Velilla Power Plant was equipped with filters, so now more than 95% of the detrimental sulfur dioxide are filtered out from smoke.
