Montego Bay
Montego Bay is the capital of the parish of St. James in Jamaica. The city is the fourth-largest urban area in the country by population, after Kingston, Spanish Town, and Portmore, all of which form the Greater Kingston Metropolitan Area, home to over half a million people. As a result, Montego Bay is the second-largest anglophone city in the Caribbean, after Kingston. Montego Bay is a popular tourist destination featuring duty-free shopping, a cruise line terminal and several beaches and resorts. Montego Bay High School
Montego Bay High School (also known as Montego Bay High School for Girls) is an all-girls high school in Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica. The school was established in 1935. History 1935-1955 Montego Bay High School was established in 1935 by the Government of Jamaica to fill the need of an all-girls high school in St. James. It was the first government-owned high school for girls established in the country. The school is owned by the Ministry of Education and administered by a local Board of Management. Prior to the establishment of Montego Bay High School, St. Helena’s High School (a private school for girls run by the Anglican Church) and situated at 46 Market Street in Montego Bay had been closed due to lack of funding. Montego Bay Sports Complex (sometimes referred to as Catherine Hall Sports Complex) is a multi-purpose sports stadium in the Catherine Hall area of the city of Montego Bay, Jamaica. It is also the former home field for Montego Bay United. The stadium capacity is approximately 7,000. In April 2011 it hosted the 40th edition of the Carifta Games. "Montego Bay" is a song co-written and performed by Bobby Bloom about the city in Jamaica of the same name. The song was a top 10 hit for Bloom in the Fall of 1970 on both sides of the Atlantic. It reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart, No. 5 on the Canadian '' RPM 100'' Singles Chart, No. 7 on the Australian Go-Set Singles Chart and No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was co-written and produced by Jeff Barry. In the master tape of the song, Bloom breaks into a chorus of " Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'" at the end of the recording. The song features a whistler, as well as Jamaican instruments in a calypso style. Bloom's recording of the song appeared in the 1997 film '' The Ice Storm''.
