Monroe High School is the main continuation high school that is located just outside Tehachapi, California. Monroe has one principal, a secretary and office clerk, two part-time counselors and three full-time teachers. The school is also the site of the Monroe Independent Study Center (formerly Summit Independent Study Center), and Tehachapi Adult School. James Monroe High School (JMHS), at 9229 Haskell Avenue in North Hills, California, is a public high school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. It is home to Small Learning Communities (SLCs) and two magnet schools. Its mascot is the Viking. History The school opened in the fall of 1958. The team name Vikings was selected by a student leadership class, as were the school colors and song. The Multipurpose room was named Odin's Hall, and the Annual was named "Valhalla". It was in the Los Angeles City High School District until 1961, when it merged into LAUSD. In 2004, five drop-out students including future rapper Hopsin were arrested for vandalizing James Monroe High School property, which was intended to be a school prank. Monroe County High School (Alabama)
Monroe County High School is a public high school in Monroeville, Monroe County, Alabama. It is part of the Monroe County School District. History Monroe County High School is the successor to a short-lived public school open to both blacks and whites built by the Freedmen's Bureau shortly after the U.S. Civil War, and the Monroeville High School, housed in a small frame building erected by local citizens (on the site of the present day Monroeville Elementary School) in 1895. This building burned in 1903 and was not rebuilt. In 1907, the State Legislature mandated a public high school in every county seat, stipulating that the value of the building must exceed $5,000, (~$ in ) be placed on a lot with a minimum of five acres, and all school properties be deeded to the state.
