Mona Vale is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 28 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district, in an area known as the Northern Beaches. Formerly the administrative centre of Pittwater Council, it is now located in the Local government in Australia, local government area of Northern Beaches Council. The traditional custodians of the area are the Garigal people. It is often colloquially referred to as "Mona". History The area was known as "Bongin Bongin" by Indigenous Australian, Aboriginal Peoples. The initial land grants in the district of Pittwater were not made until April 1813, and those sections which now comprise Mona Vale, first surveyed in May 1814, were granted to Robert Campbell (1769–1846), Robert Campbell (1769–1846). The B-Line is a high-frequency bus route operated by Keolis Downer Northern Beaches between Wynyard Station in Sydney's central business district and the Northern Beaches region. It is a part of the Sydney suburban bus network. History In November 2015, Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) announced the construction of a 27 kilometre bus rapid transit network between Newport on the Northern Beaches and the Sydney central business district. Pittwater Road is a major arterial road along the coast of the Northern Beaches suburbs of Sydney, Australia, the majority of which is a constituent part of the A8 route. Route Pittwater Road commences at the intersection with McCarrs Creek Road at Church Point and heads in a southerly direction as a two-lane, single-carriageway road through Bayview, intersecting with Barrenjoey Road in Mona Vale, where it widens to a four-lane, dual-carriageway road, and meets Mona Vale Road shortly afterwards (with additional bus lanes in both directions). It continues in a southerly direction through Narrabeen and Dee Why, where it intersects with Condamine Street in North Manly and heads closer to the coast, varying between a four- and six-lane dual-carriageway until it crosses Manly Creek, where it narrows to a four-lane, single-carriageway road. Mona Vale Hospital is located in the suburb of Mona Vale, on the Northern Beaches of metropolitan Sydney, Australia. It is a public hospital managed by New South Wales Health, and part of the Northern Sydney Local Health District. The hospital was incorporated on 21 November 1958 under the Public Hospitals Act 1929, and opened on 22 February 1964 by the then Minister for Health, the Hon. William Francis Sheahan.
