Godhuli Express
''Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane'' ( ) or ''Godhuli'' is a 1977 Indian drama film co-directed by Girish Karnad and B. V. Karanth, starring Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Maanu, Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah. It is based on the Kannada novel '' Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane'', written by S. L. Byrappa as an allegory for nation-building and the clash of modernity with tradition in rural India. It portrays the story of a modern agriculturist who returns from the US after studying agriculture and brings his American wife to the village. The film won the Filmfare for ‘Best Film’ (Kannada) and Maanu won ‘Best Actor’ (Kannada) at the 25th Filmfare Awards South (1978). The film was made in Hindi and Kannada versions: '' Godhuli'' (). Girish Karnad
Girish Karnad (19 May 1938 – 10 June 2019) was an Indian playwright, actor, film director, Kannada writer, and a Jnanpith awardee, who predominantly worked in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Marathi films. His rise as a playwright in the 1960s marked the coming of age of modern Indian playwriting in Kannada, just as Badal Sarkar did in Bengali, Vijay Tendulkar in Marathi, and Mohan Rakesh in Hindi. He was a recipient of the 1998 Jnanpith Award, the highest literary honour conferred in India. For four decades Karnad composed plays, often using history and mythology to tackle contemporary issues. He translated his plays into English and received acclaim. His plays have been translated into some Indian languages and directed by directors like Ebrahim Alkazi, B. V. The 27th Filmfare Awards were held in 1980. '' Junoon'' led the ceremony with 9 nominations, followed by ''Gol Maal'' and ''Kaala Patthar'' with 8 nominations each, and ''Sargam'' with 7 nominations. Ramakrishna (Kannada Actor)
Ramakrishna (born c. 1954), also known as Neernalli Ramakrishna, is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Kannada cinema, block buster debut being Babruvahana as lord Krishna alongside the lead double role played by Dr. Rajkumar as Arjuna and Babruvahana, and known for his portrayal of character roles as a lead actor. He was born into the Havyaka Brahmin community in Neernalli, near Sirsi, in the erstwhile North Canara (now Uttara Kannada) region of Karnataka State. In his career spanning over 30 years, he has appeared in over 200 films, mostly Kannada and a handful in Tamil and Telugu cinema; he appeared in a lead role in K.
