Mohammad Farooq (cricketer)
Mohammad Farooq (born 8 April 1938) is a former Pakistani international cricketer who played in seven Test cricket, Test matches between 1960 and 1965. Cricket career Mohammad Farooq was one of Pakistan's fastest bowlers in the 1960s, but his career was short. He made his name in 1959–60, his first season of first-class cricket. In his third first-class match, he took 6 for 87 runs and 5 for 98 to bowl Karachi cricket teams, Karachi to victory in the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He was selected to tour India with Pakistani cricket team in India in 1960–61, the Pakistan team in 1960–61 and played in the first Test, taking the first three Indian wickets and finishing with 4 for 139 from 46 overs. This was a result of their performance at the 2014 World Cup Qualifier, where they placed second to qualify for the 2015 World Cup. The team had made its ODI debut as early as 1994, against India, but received ODI status on a non-temporary basis only in 2014. Muhammad Farooq Khan was a Pakistani psychiatrist, scholar of Islam and vice-chancellor of University of Swat. He was known for his opposition to Islamist militancy and described suicide attacks as un-Islamic. Due to his views, he was assassinated on 2 October 2010. He got his basic education from District Swabi. He then joined Cadet College, Hasanabdal and later on Cadet College, Kohat. After having studied medicine, he decided to specialize in psychiatry. Mohammad Farooq Shah commonly known as Mirwaiz Moulvi Mohammad Farooq was the Mirwaiz of his time in Kashmir and chairman of All Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee, a coalition of disparate political parties in Jammu and Kashmir that sought resolution of the Kashmir conflict. Shah was assassinated on 21 May 1990 by gunmen at his residence at Nageen, Srinagar. His funeral procession passed by the bloodshed near the Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar, wherein 72 people, including four women, were killed; his body was dropped in the middle of the road.
