Mogwai
Mogwai () are a Scottish post-rock band, formed in 1995 in Glasgow. The band consists of Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals), Barry Burns (guitar, piano, synthesizer, vocals), Dominic Aitchison (bass guitar), and Martin Bulloch (drums). Mogwai typically compose lengthy guitar-based instrumental pieces that feature dynamics (music), dynamic contrast, melodic bass guitar lines, and heavy use of Audio distortion, distortion and effects unit, effects. The band were for several years signed to Glasgow label Chemikal Underground, and have been distributed by different labels such as Matador Records, Matador in the US and Play It Again Sam (record label), Play It Again Sam in the UK, but now use their own label Rock Action Records in the UK, and Temporary Residence Ltd. in North America. ''Mogwai Young Team'' (also known as ''Young Team'') is the debut studio album by Scottish post-rock band Mogwai. Produced by Paul Savage and Andy Miller, the album was released on 21 October 1997 through the Chemikal Underground record label. ''Mogwai Young Team'' was re-released in May 2008 on Chemikal Underground, packaged as a remaster of the original album with a second disc containing rare tracks from the ''Young Team'' sessions and live recordings. Of the second disc, only "Young Face Gone Wrong" was previously unreleased; the following three tracks had earlier appeared on various compilation albums and other releases. As The Love Continues
''As the Love Continues'' is the tenth studio album by Scottish post-rock band Mogwai, released on 19 February 2021 on Rock Action Records in the UK and Europe, and on Temporary Residence Limited in the US. Its UK release date marked the 25th anniversary of Mogwai's first single, "Tuner/Lower". It was preceded by the single "Dry Fantasy", and the streaming of a live concert of the album played in full. ''As the Love Continues'' was met with near universal critical and fan acclaim, including a Mercury Prize nomination in 2021. The album topped the UK charts in its first week of release, a position that the band called "totally surreal". Stuart Braithwaite
Stuart Leslie Braithwaite (born 10 May 1976) is a Scottish musician, singer and songwriter. He is the guitarist of post-rock band Mogwai, with whom he has recorded ten studio albums. He is also a member of the British alternative rock supergroups Minor Victories and Silver Moth. He has used the name Plasmatron in the credits of Mogwai's debut album '' Mogwai Young Team'', as a social media handle, and as the name of his signature guitar pedal. Early life Braithwaite's family, on his mother's side, originate from Flesherin on the Isle of Lewis; he was born in Lanark and raised in the rural Clyde Valley. John Cummings (musician)
John Cummings is a Scottish musician and record producer, best known for being a former member of Glaswegian band Mogwai, mostly playing guitar, as well as programming, production, keyboards and vocals. Career Mogwai After forming and playing a few gigs in 1995 as a three-piece, Mogwai enlisted John Cummings on guitar. Martin Bulloch
Martin Bulloch (born 14 August 1974) is a Scottish musician, best known for being the drummer in the rock band Mogwai. Early life Bulloch was born in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was once a cook at a Chinese restaurant in East Kilbride. He uses a pacemaker which was the reason he is credited as bionic on the album, ''Mogwai Young Team''. Barry Burns
Barry Burns is a Scottish musician best known for his work with post-rock band Mogwai. Early life Burns went to Cardinal Newman High School in Bellshill before enrolling with the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, taking up a Bachelor of Education degree in teaching music. He did not finish the degree, completing only 3 years of the course. He broke his finger, which is why he did not go back, though he has also said that he was not at ease with the teaching part of the course. Career Mogwai Burns joined Mogwai just before the recording of their second album, ''Come on Die Young''. He had already played a few gigs with the band beforehand as a flautist and occasional pianist. According to Stuart Braithwaite, Burns joined the band because he was a "good laugh".
