Mitsubishi EK
The is a kei car series from Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan, based on the long-running Minica, and first introduced on October 11, 2001. The "''eK''" name is an abbreviation for "excellent ''keijidōsha''" (or "excellent minicar") and is meant to be pronounced "ee kay", a pun which sounds like the Japanese いい軽, meaning "good kei ar. Since June 8, 2005, Nissan received 36,000 eK Wagons annually from Mitsubishi, to be sold within the domestic market as the Nissan Otti. The Otti was replaced by the Nissan Dayz on June 6, 2013, although the Otti was still sold alongside the Dayz until being discontinued on June 28, 2013. A tall-height minivan version with rear sliding doors called the eK Space appeared in 2014. The Mitsubishi 3G8 engine is a range of three-cylinder powerplant from Mitsubishi Motors, introduced in the fifth generation of their Mitsubishi Minica ''kei car''. In common with other contemporary engines in the class, it could be specified with many advanced technologies despite its diminutive size, including multi-valve cylinder heads and double overhead camshafts. The top-of-the-line ''Dangan ZZ'' variant was also the first kei car to benefit from turbocharging. The is a light recreational vehicle (RV) produced by Mitsubishi Motors from 1990 until 2004 and then from 2008 until 2013. The original version was derived from their Minica kei car and the first two generations were called the Minica Toppo. The name is a portmanteau of the English "top" (roof) and the Japanese "noppo" (lanky). Originally named the Mitsubishi Minica Toppo, a retro-styled variant was introduced in 1996 called the Mitsubishi Minica Toppo Town Bee. In 1998 a new generation was launched; now referred to as the Mitsubishi Toppo BJ ("Big Joy"). A larger derivative, the Mitsubishi Toppo BJ Wide was introduced in 1999.
