__NOTOC__ Mitchellville is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the east coast of Eyre Peninsula about north-west of the state capital of Adelaide and about north of the municipal seat of Cowell. Its boundaries were created in 1998 in respect to the “low established name” which is derived from John Mitchell which was an "early settler" in the area. Land use in Mitchellville is divided between primary industry and conservation with the former being represented by “broadacre farming of cereals and livestock” and the latter being represented by the zoning of the land adjoining the coastline with Spencer Gulf. Mitchellville is located within the federal division of Grey, the state electoral district of Flinders Flinders is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. The District Council of Franklin Harbour is a local government area in South Australia on the Eyre Peninsula. Cowell is the major population centre of an agricultural district based on farming wheat and sheep, supplemented by a fishing and oyster farming industries. The district's coastal towns including Cowell and Lucky Bay attract large numbers of tourists during school holidays, with the new Spencer Gulf ferry service increasing traffic to these areas since 2006. History Franklin Harbour itself was first sighted by Matthew Flinders in 1802 and subsequently named after his midshipman and nephew, John Franklin, by Governor George Gawler in 1840. The first settlers to the region arrived in 1853, with more following soon afterward. The District Council was proclaimed in 1888. Mitchellville is a majority African-American unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 11,136. History Mitchellville was named for John Mitchell (1788–1862), who owned Essington Hall, the plantation that encompassed much of the area. Mitchellville is a city in Sumner County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 189 at the 2010 census, down from 207 in 2000. History Mitchellville began with the establishment of a farm by Ezekiel Marshall in 1814. The community that developed around the farm was originally known as Mitchell's Cross Roads after Hiram Mitchell, who owned land near the intersection of two early roads. With the arrival of the railroad in 1859, the name of the community was changed to Mitchellville Station. The city incorporated in 1909, and thrived as a railroad stop throughout the first half of the 20th century.
