Missouri's 8th Senatorial District is one of 34 districts in the Missouri Senate. The district has been represented by Republican Mike Cierpiot since 2018. Geography The district is based in southeastern Jackson County, within the Kansas City metropolitan area. Major municipalities in the district include Blue Springs, Greenwood, and Lee's Summit. The district is also home to Blue Springs Lake Blue Springs Lake is a freshwater reservoir located near Blue Springs in Jackson County, Missouri. Mike Cierpiot
Mike Cierpiot (born January 14, 1953) is an American politician. He is a member of the Missouri Senate from the 8th district, serving since 2018. He previously represented the 30th district in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. He is a member of the Republican Party. Political career Cierpiot served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2011 until 2017. From 2011 to 2013, he represented District 56. From 2013 to 2017, he represented District 30. Before becoming a representative, he was a committee member of the Jackson County Republican Party from 1993 to 2003. Due to Missouri's term limits, Cierpiot term as a state representative ended in 2018. Matt Bartle
Matt Bartle (born February 20, 1965) is a Republican politician from Missouri. He was born in Columbia, Missouri. He graduated from David H. Hickman High School, and went on to get a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Missouri, and a J.D. degree from Northwestern University. While at Northwestern, he was the editor of law review. He is an attorney. Bartle was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1998, and remained in that position through 2002. Eric Robert Greitens (born April 10, 1974) is an American businessman, author, former politician and former Navy SEAL, who served as the 56th governor of Missouri from January 2017 until June 2018, when he resigned that month amid allegations of sexual assault and campaign finance impropriety. Missouri Senate
The Missouri Senate is the upper chamber of the Missouri General Assembly. It has 34 members, representing districts with an average population of 181,000. Its members serve four-year terms, with half the seats being up for election every two years. The Senate chooses a President Pro Tempore to serve in the absence of the lieutenant governor or when he shall have to exercise the office of Governor of the State of Missouri, governor of Missouri if there is a vacancy in that office due to death, resignation, impeachment, or incapacitation.
