"Missing Pieces" is the first episode of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6, sixth season of the American television series ''Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'' Based on the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D., it follows S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and allies as they try to save humanity following the death of director Phil Coulson. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and acknowledges List of Marvel Cinematic Universe films, the franchise's films. The episode was written by showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen and directed by series star Clark Gregg. Gregg reprises his role as Coulson from the film series, and also takes on the new character Sarge (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Sarge. He stars alongside Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward (actor), Jeff Ward.
