Miriam O'Callaghan (media Personality)
Miriam O'Callaghan (born 1959 or 1960) is an Irish television current affairs presenter with RTÉ. O'Callaghan has presented '' Prime Time'' since 1996, and her own summer talk show, '' Saturday Night with Miriam'', from 2005 onwards. In the summer of 2009, she began a radio show, '' Miriam Meets...'', since replaced by live show ''Sunday with Miriam''. She is also the first woman to present a full episode of '' The Late Late Show''. Early life O'Callaghan received her Bachelor of Civil Law in 1979 and a Diploma in European Law in 1981. Her brother, politician Jim O'Callaghan is a Fianna Fáil TD and since 24 January 2025 has served as Minister for Justice (Ireland). Foxrock
Foxrock () is an affluent suburb on the southside of Dublin, Ireland. It is within the county of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, in the postal district of Dublin 18 and in the Catholic parish of Foxrock. History The suburb of Foxrock was developed by William and John Bentley and Edward and Anthony Fox, who, in 1859, leased the lands of the Foxrock Estate from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners and Richard Whately, the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin, with the aim of creating an affluent garden suburb. The development was facilitated by the existence of the Harcourt Street railway line, built in 1854, that put Dublin city within commuting distance. Simon Harris
Simon Harris (born 17 October 1986) is an Irish Fine Gael politician serving as Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister for Defence since January 2025, having previously served as Taoiseach from 2024 to 2025. The 2024 Irish general election to elect the 34th Dáil took place on Friday, 29 November 2024, following the dissolution of parliament, dissolution of the 33rd Dáil on 8 November by president of Ireland, President Michael D. 2020 Irish General Election
The 2020 Irish general election took place on Saturday 8 February, to elect the 33rd Dáil, the lower house of Ireland's parliament. The election was called following the dissolution of the 32nd Dáil by the president, at the request of the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, on 14 January 2020. The members, Teachtaí Dála (TDs), were elected by single transferable vote in multi-seat constituencies. It was the first election since 1918 to be held on a weekend. Following the election, Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil entered into a historic coalition government. The election was an unprecedented three-way race, with the three largest parties each winning a share of the vote between 20% and 25%. Marian Finucane
Marian Finucane ( ; 21 May 1950 – 2 January 2020) was an Irish people, Irish broadcaster with RTÉ. Finucane began working with the national broadcaster in 1974, starting as a continuity announcer. She went on to host ''Women Today'' (1979–1983), the first Irish women's affairs radio programme presented and produced by women, as well as its successor, ''The Women's Programme'' (1983–1986); she was the first presenter of ''Liveline'' (1985–1999); and she also presented ''The Marian Finucane Show'' at weekend lunchtimes on RTÉ Radio 1 until her death. The COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of Ireland is a part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
