Minnesota State Mavericks
The Minnesota State Mavericks are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Minnesota State University, Mankato. The school's athletic program includes 21 varsity sports teams. More than 600 students participate each year in athletics for the university. Most of the university's athletic teams compete at the NCAA Division II level in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The men's and women's ice hockey teams compete at the Division I level, respectively in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) and Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). Minnesota State began competition in the NSIC in 2008–09, due to the dissolution of the North Central Conference. It was also one of the seven WCHA men's hockey members that left that league after the 2020–21 season to reestablish the CCHA, a move that led to the demise of the men's side of the WCHA. Blakeslee Stadium
Blakeslee Stadium is an American football stadium located on the southern edge of the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus. Primarily used for American football, it is the home field of the Minnesota State Mavericks football —an NCAA Division II team— and hosted the Training camp (National Football League), training camp for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL) from 1966 to 2017. The Minnesota State Mavericks women's hockey ice program represents Minnesota State University, Mankato, and participate in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. History In October 2010, Kathleen Rogan registered a hat trick as the Mavericks defeated No. 6-ranked North Dakota by a 4–2 margin. This was the Mavericks first hat trick since Ashley Young registered one against Bemidji State in 2008. In 2018 and 2019, the Mavericks played in the Women's Face-Off Classic game hosted by the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum. 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2024 NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament was a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division II college basketball in the United States, the culmination of the 2023–24 NCAA Division II men's basketball season. The tournament again featured 64 teams, with teams placed into one of eight geographically oriented, eight-team regionals. The first three rounds were played on campus sites while the national quarterfinal (Elite Eight), semifinal, and championship rounds were held at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, from March 26 to 30, 2024. 1947 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1947 NAIA National Tournament was held in March at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The 10th annual men's basketball tournament of what is now the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) featured 32 teams playing in a single-elimination format. It would be the first time since 1945 the NAIA Semifinalist would feature four new teams. Becoming the 3rd tournament to do so, and a feat that would not be repeated until 1965. The championship game featured Marshall defeating Mankato State, 73–59. Christopher Reed (born July 22, 1992) is an American professional football guard. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars after the 2015 NFL draft. He played college football for the Minnesota State Mavericks. He has also been a member of the Miami Dolphins, the Carolina Panthers, the Indianapolis Colts and the Minnesota Vikings. Adam John Thielen (born August 22, 1990) is an American professional American football, football wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). Todd Hoffner
Todd Hoffner (born June 17, 1966) is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head football coach for Minnesota State University, Mankato, a position he held from 2008 to 2011 and resumed in 2014. Hoffner was the head football coach at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire from 1999 to 2005. He was an assistant football coach at University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point from 1991 to 1998 and served as the offensive coordinator at the University of South Dakota from 2006 to 2007.
