Liberty Grove, Wisconsin
Liberty Grove is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,096 at the 2020 census. The unincorporated communities of Ellison Bay, Gills Rock, North Bay, Northport, and Rowleys Bay are in the town. History Liberty Grove was formed from the northern Gibraltar Township in 1859. The state of Wisconsin was less than a decade old at the time. The early settlers at the time harvested the quality timber, fished the fish, and planted the cheap farmland. Some import early settlers in Liberty Grove include, Allen Bradley, Daniel Rice, and Andrew Weborg. Lacustuary
A lacustuary is a freshwater body of water where river and lake waters mix. Lacustuaries are nonmoving or "slack" water, although water in them can ebb and flow due to lake waves moving in and out, and the rising and falling of lake water levels. A lacustuary is that portion of a freshwater river or stream where lake water and river/stream water mix. The upper boundary of the lacustuary is that portion of the river directly affected by rising and falling water levels in the lake. Lacustuaries are generally nonmoving or "slack" water. Lacustuaries are not estuaries. They are far less saline, as lacustuaries are freshwater bodies. Door Peninsula
The Door Peninsula is a peninsula in eastern Wisconsin, separating the southern part of the Green Bay from Lake Michigan. The peninsula includes northern Kewaunee County, northeastern Brown County, and the mainland portion of Door County. It is on the western side of the Niagara Escarpment. Well known for its cherry and apple orchards, the Door Peninsula is a popular tourism destination. With the 1881 completion of the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal, the northern half of the peninsula became an island. Limestone outcroppings of the Niagara Escarpment are visible on both shores of the peninsula, but are larger and more prominent on the Green Bay side as seen at the Bayshore Blufflands. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) is a government agency of the U.S. state of Wisconsin charged with conserving and managing Wisconsin's natural resources.
