The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China () was a constituent department of the State Council of China that managed the postal and telecommunications of the People's Republic of China. It was abolished in 1998. History On October 1, 1949, the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China was established. On November 1, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the Central People's Government was formally established, with the responsibility of unified management of the postal and telecommunications of the People's Republic of China. Zhu Xuefan, a former postal worker was appointed as Minister and Wang Zheng as Vice Minister. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications established the General Postal Administration to manage the national postal work. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is the sixth-ranked executive department of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. It is responsible for regulation and development of the postal service, Internet, wireless, broadcasting, communications, production of electronic and information goods, software industry and the promotion of the national knowledge economy. History In 2004, the MIIT began the Connecting Every Village Project to promote universal access to telecommunication and internet services in rural China. Wu Jichuan ( zh, s=吴基传; born October 1937) is a Chinese politician who served as minister of posts and telecommunications from 1993 to 1998 and minister of information industry from 1998 to 2003. State Post Bureau
The State Post Bureau is the government agency that regulates China Post, the postal service of China. The agency was created in 1998 as a successor to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. The agency used to report to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is now under the administration of the Ministry of Transport. The bureau is headed by the Director-General. The Central Military Commission (CMC) is the highest military leadership body of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the China, People's Republic of China (PRC), which heads the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the People's Armed Police (PAP), and the Militia (China), Militia of China.
