The Ministry of Forests and Environment ( ne, वन तथा वातावरण मन्त्रालय) is a governmental body of Nepal responsible for the conservation of forests and managing the environment in the country. Its main purposes are to enhance sustainable growth of the forest and water sectors and to manage the biodiversity, flora and fauna and also to increase the development of forest related enterprises in order to combat poverty throughout the rural areas of Nepal. Prior to the abolition of the Nepali monarchy in 2006 (became republic in 2008), it was officially known as His Majesty's Government. Prem Bahadur Ale Magar (born 28 April 1970) is a Nepali politician belonging to CPN (Unified Socialist). He is also the former Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Before being Tourism Minister, Magar has previously served as the Minister for Forests and Environment of Nepal.
