Coat Of Arms Of East Timor
The national emblem of Timor-Leste, also known as the ''Belak'' (Tetum for "Disk"), is one of the national symbols of the country. Current emblem The emblem was introduced on 18 January 2007 by Law 2/2007, replacing the coat of arms based on the shield of the National Council of Timorese Resistance (CNRT), which had been used since independence in 2002. The current coat of arms is a variant of the emblem used by East Timorese representatives during Indonesian occupation. It is based on a design first used when the country unilaterally declared independence on 28 November 1975. Fernando Hanjam
Fernando Hanjam is an East Timorese politician and academic. In 2020, he served briefly as the Minister of Finance under the VIII Constitutional Government of East Timor led by Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak. Previously, in 2017–18, he was Minister of Education and Culture in the earlier VII Constitutional Government, led by Mari Alkatiri. Early life and career Hanjam hails from the Oecusse-Ambeno exclave in the west of East Timor. He attended SMA Seminari Lalian Atambua, in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. He then studied management at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and at Satya Wacana Christian University, Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia, and also obtained a PhD in Accounting and Finance at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. All of these studies were supported by the Society of Jesus, to which Hanjam has publicly expressed gratitude. Rui Augusto Gomes (born 21 September 1958) is an East Timorese politician, administrator and academic. From November 2020 to July 2023, he was the Minister of Finance, serving in the VIII Constitutional Government of East Timor led by Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak. Previously, he was Minister for Planning and Finance in the earlier VII Constitutional Government. He has also worked as an economic adviser and Chief of Staff to the President of East Timor, in various capacities for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and as a university lecturer.
