Ministry Of Finance, Planning And Economic Development (Uganda)
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) is a cabinet-level government ministry of Uganda. Its mandate is to formulate sound economic and fiscal policies, mobilize resources for the implementation of government programmes, disburse public resources as appropriated by Parliament, and account for their use in accordance with national laws and international best practices. The cabinet minister of finance is Matia Kasaija. MoFPED was created by the 1995 Constitution of Uganda and derives its power from the Constitution and related acts of parliament, including the 2001 Budget Act and the 2003 Public Finance and Accountability Act. Government Of Uganda
Uganda is a presidential republic in which the President of Uganda is the head of state and the prime minister is the head of government business. There is a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is given to both the government and the National Assembly. The system is based on a democratic parliamentary system with equal rights for all citizens over 18 years of age. Political culture In a measure ostensibly designed to reduce sectarian violence, political parties were restricted in their activities from 1986. Syda Namirembe Bbumba (last name sometimes spelled Bumba) (born 7 January 1952) is a Ugandan accountant, politician and banker. She served in the Cabinet of Uganda as Minister of Energy and Minerals from 2002 to 2006, Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development from 2006 to 2008, Minister of Finance from 2009 to 2011, and Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development again from 2011 to 2012. Ezra Suruma
Ezra Suruma (born 11 November 1945), is a Ugandan economist, banker, and academic. He became the chancellor of Makerere University in January 2016. He formerly served as a senior adviser to the president of Uganda on finance and economic planning, a position he held from 16 February 2009 until 15 January 2016. Previously, he was a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution, in Washington, D. C., at the Africa Growth Initiative division of the institution. He was appointed to that position in April 2010. Gerald Ssendaula
Gerald Majera Ssendaula is a retired Ugandan politician, and current banker and farmer. He is a former Cabinet Minister and MP Member of Parliament, representing Kingo sub-county, which became Lwengo District. Background and education Ssendaula was born on 15 May 1943 in Kyabbogo Village, Kingo sub-county, in Masaka District at that time, to the late Edward Byansi Kalibbala and Maria Nakanwagi Nakato. He is the oldest amongst eight siblings; six brothers and two sisters. In 2010, Kingo sub-county was peeled off Masaka District to create Lwengo District. Jehoash Mayanja Nkangi
Jehoash Ssibakyalyawo Mayanja Nkangi or Joash Mayanja Nkangi (22 August 1932 – 6 March 2017) was a Ugandan lawyer, civil servant and politician. At the time of his death, he was the immediate past chairman of the Uganda Land Commission. He previously served as a cabinet minister in several ministries in the Cabinet of Uganda. From 1962 until 1993, Mayanja Nkanki served as the "Katikkiro" (prime minister) under Sir Edward Muteesa II, the Kabaka of Buganda, who reigned from 1939 until 1969. Crispus Walter Kiyonga (born 1 January 1952), whose first name is sometimes spelled Chrispus, is a Ugandan physician, politician and diplomat, who serves as Uganda's Ambassador to China, based in Beijing. He previously served as the Minister of Defence in the Cabinet of Uganda from 2006 to 2016. Prior to that, he was Minister Without Portfolio in the Office of the President from 2005 to 2006. Abraham Waligo
Abraham Waligo (28 July 1928 – 6 March 2000) was the 4th Prime Minister of Uganda from 25 August 1985 to 26 January 1986. Biography Waligo studied electrical engineering in South Africa and the United Kingdom. After graduating in 1955, he was the first electrical engineer in Central and Eastern Africa. After a two-year vocational training program at various UK power utilities, he returned to his home country in 1957 and became chief engineer of the Electricity Authority (UEB). In 1969, Waligo founded an engineering office. In addition, he has been involved in the association of engineers and in the field of higher education for engineers. Apollo Milton Obote
Apollo Milton Obote (28 December 1925 – 10 October 2005) was a Ugandan political leader who led Uganda to independence from British colonial rule in 1962. Following the nation's independence, he served as prime minister of Uganda from 1962 to 1966 and the second president of Uganda from 1966 to 1971, then again from 1980 to 1985. He founded the Uganda People's Congress (UPC) in 1960, which played a key role in securing Uganda's independence from the United Kingdom in 1962. He then became the country's prime minister in a coalition with the Kabaka Yekka movement/party, whose leader King Mutesa II was named president.
