The Ministry of Education and Culture (, ) is one of the twelve ministries in Finland. It prepares laws and oversees the administration of matters relating to education (such as daycare, schools and universities), and culture (such as museums, libraries and arts), as well as sports and science. The Ministry of Education and Culture is one of the oldest ministries in Finland. It was started as the Ecclesiastical Department in 1809, when the Grand Duchy of Finland was an autonomous part of the Russian Empire. Anders Erik Gunnar Adlercreutz (born 26 April 1970) is a Finnish architect and politician. He has represented the Swedish People's Party of Finland in the Parliament of Finland since 2015 Finnish parliamentary election, 2015, and has served as the party's chair since 2024. He has served as Minister of Education (Finland), Minister of Education in the Orpo Cabinet since July 2024, having previously served as Minister for European Affairs (Finland), Minister of European Affairs and Ownership Steering. Sari Multala (born 5 July 1978) is a Finnish Olympic sailor, politician, member of Parliament of Finland and cabinet minister. Sailing She went on to compete in the 2000 Olympic Sailing Competition and 2004 Olympic Sailing Competition finishing fifth in the Women's Singlehanded Class the Europe (dinghy). The educational system in Finland consists of daycare programmes (for babies and toddlers), a one-year "preschool" (age six), and an 11-year compulsory basic comprehensive school (age seven to age eighteen). As of 2024, secondary general academic and vocational education, higher education and adult education are compulsory.
