The Ministry of Culture ( bg, Министерство на културата, ''Ministerstvo na kulturata'') of Bulgaria is the ministry charged with overseeing and stimulating the cultural work in the country and preserving its cultural heritage. It first existed as a separate institution in 1954–1957, previously being part of the Ministry of Enlightenment and then active under various names until promoted back to a ministry in 1990 (but once again briefly united with the Ministry of Education and Science in 1993). The current minister, appointed in 2021, is Atanas Atanasov. The Council of Ministers ( bg, Министерски съвет, ''Ministerski savet'') is the main authority of the executive power in the Republic of Bulgaria. It consists of the Prime Minister of Bulgaria and all the specialized ministers. Overview After the compositions of the Council of Ministers is decided by the newly elected government, the deputies who are chosen to become ministers temporarily lose their deputy rights while being ministers. These rights are restored in case they are released from the Council of Ministers or the government falls from power. The Ministry of Education and Science ( bg, Министерство на образованието и науката, ''Ministerstvo na obrazovanieto i naukata'') of Bulgaria is the ministry charged with regulating and promoting the educational and scientific work in the country. It was founded as the Ministry of Popular Enlightenment in 1879 and existed under this name until 1947, after which it changed its name numerous times. In 2009 the name changed from "Ministry of Education and Science" to "Ministry of Education, Youth and Science". In 2013, this change was reversed.
