The is an administrative agency of the Cabinet Office of Japan responsible for consumer protection established on September 1, 2009. Under the law passed on December 10, 2022, the Consumer Affairs Agency now also has jurisdiction over the issue of donations between religious juridical persons and their followers. Until then, the Agency for Cultural Affairs had jurisdiction over all administration related to religious juridical persons. This legislation was intended to address the Unification Church's " Spiritual sales", which has become a serious problem in Japanese society. Seiichi Eto
is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party, who is serving as a member of the House of Councillors. Biography Eto is a native of Ōita, Ōita and graduate of Oita University. Eto served on the city council of Ōita for two terms from 1973 and the Ōita Prefectural Assembly for two terms from 1979. He was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1990 after an unsuccessful run in 1986. In 2000 he lost the seat but was re-elected three years later. He, however, lost the seat again in 2005. In 2007 he ran for the House of Councillors and was elected. In 2019, Eto entered the 4th Abe cabinet as the Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs.
