The minister of foreign affairs () is the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a member of the Cabinet and the Council of Ministers. The incumbent minister is Caspar Veldkamp of the New Social Contract (NSC) party, who has been in office since 2 July 2024. Regularly, a state secretary is assigned to the ministry who is tasked with specific portfolios, currently the function is not in use. Additionally since 1965 there has been a minister without portfolio assigned to the ministry, the minister for foreign trade and development cooperation has traditionally development cooperation as portfolio, since 2012 the portfolio of trade and export has been assigned added to the function. Caspar Veldkamp
Caspar Cornelis Johannes Veldkamp (born 23 April 1964) is a Dutch politician and former diplomat currently serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs (Netherlands), Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Schoof cabinet. Veldkamp previously served as a member of the House of Representatives (Netherlands), House of Representatives for the New Social Contract (NSC) party from December 2023 to July 2024. Early career Veldkamp started working as a policy officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Netherlands), Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993. He later had postings in Warsaw, Washington, D.C., Washington, DC, Brussels, and London, and he served as Ambassador of the Netherlands to Israel (2011–2015) and to Greece (2015–2019). In the latter role, he cooperated with Minister of Finance and Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem on the Greek government-debt crisis. Alexander Gogel
Isaac Jan Alexander Gogel (10 December 1765 – 13 June 1821) was a Dutch politician, who was the first minister of finance of the Batavian Republic and the Kingdom of Holland. Early years Gogel was born in Vught, the son of Johan Martin Gogel, a German officer in the service of the army of the Dutch Republic, and of Alexandrina Crul. He attended a French boarding school in Tilburg from 1776 to 1781. At the age of 16, he went to Amsterdam to apprentice for a career as a merchant, at the merchant house of ''Godart Kappel en Zoon''.
