The Finnish Government (; ; ) is the executive branch and cabinet of Finland, which directs the politics of Finland and is the main source of legislation proposed to the Parliament. The Government has collective ministerial responsibility and represents Finland in the Council of the European Union. Sinikka Mönkäre (born 6 March 1947) is a Finnish physician and politician who served as minister in different cabinets of Finland. Early life and education Mönkäre was born in Sippola on 6 March 1947. She has a PhD in medicine and surgery. Career Mönkäre worked at different hospitals. From 1981 to 1995 she served at the Imatra city council in various capacities. She became a member of the Finnish Parliament in 1987 and served there until 1991. Liisa Anneli Jaakonsaari (née Ollakka; born 2 September 1945) is a Finnish politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2009 until 2019. Ilkka Armas Mikael Kanerva (28 January 1948 – 14 April 2022) was a Finnish politician and a member of the Parliament of Finland. He was born in Lokalahti, now a part of Uusikaupunki in Southwest Finland. He was the Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2008. Kanerva was a member of the National Coalition Party. Matti Juhani Puhakka (7 February 1945 – 6 October 2021) was a Finnish politician representing the Social Democratic Party of Finland, Social Democrats. Puhakka was born in Eno, Finland, Eno in February 1945. Before his political career, from 1965 to 1975, he worked as maintenance repairman in the Enso Gutzeit factory in Uimaharju. He was Finland's Minister of Transport and Communications (Finland), Minister of Transport from 1983 to 1984 and Minister of Social Affairs and Health from 1984 to 1987 in the Sorsa IV Cabinet. Jouko Kajanoja (born 23 December 1942) is a Finnish economist and politician who served as minister of labour between 1981 and 1982. He was a member of the Communist Party which he headed from 1982 to 1984. Biography Kajanoja was born in Tammela, Finland, on 23 December 1942. He joined the Communist Party being part of the fraction which was the third group after the moderates and doctrinaire faction. In March 1981 he was appointed minister of labour to the cabinet led by Mauno Koivisto. He also served in the same post in the next cabinet led by Kalevi Sorsa. On 15 May 1982 Kajanoja became the chairman of the Communist Party. He was elected to the post as a result of the conflicts between the leaders of two major fractions within the party.
