Military Order Of Achievement
The Military Order of Achievement (), also called the Military Order of Glory, is an order of Oman. History The order was established in 1995 by Sultan Qaboos bin Said to coincide with his 25th anniversary on the throne. It is made of three classes that are awarded to officers who have served for 25 years. Insignia The insignia is made by Spink & Son. The first class has a collar, sash with badge, and star while the second class has a neck ribbon with badge and star and the third class only has a neck ribbon with badge. The ribbon is blue with a center red stripe and narrow white borders. The design of the badge and star are the same. An order is a visible honour awarded by a sovereign state, monarch, dynastic house or organisation to a person, typically in recognition of individual merit, that often comes with distinctive insignia such as collars, medals, badges, and sashes worn by recipients. The House of Al Bu Said (, ), is the current ruling royal family of Oman, and former ruling house of the Omani Empire (1744–1856), Muscat and Oman, Sultanate of Muscat and Oman (1856–1970) and the Sultanate of Zanzibar (1856–1964). Qaboos Bin Said
Qaboos bin Said Al Said (, ; 18 November 1940 – 10 January 2020) was Sultan of Oman from 23 July 1970 until his death in 2020. A fifteenth-generation descendant of the founder of the Al Bu Said dynasty, he was the longest-serving leader in the Middle East and Arab world at the time of his death, having ruled for almost half a century. Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said (; born 11 October 1955) is the List of rulers of Oman, Sultan and Prime Minister of Oman. He acceded to the throne in January 2020 after being named successor by his cousin, Qaboos bin Said, Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Prior to becoming Sultan, Haitham served for several decades under Sultan Qaboos in the Cabinet of Oman most notably as the Minister of Heritage and Culture. The Order of the Special Royal Emblem () is the second highest military order of Oman. History The order was instituted in 1985 by Sultan Qaboos bin Said to coincide with the 15th anniversary of his accession to the throne. It was presented to Omani military officers on National Day in November of that year. Insignia The insignia is a multicolored ribbon with a gold hexagonal badge featuring the Tughra of Sultan Qaboos. The Orders, decorations, and medal of Oman are the Order (distinction), orders awarded by the List of rulers of Oman, Sultan of Oman. The first Omani order was created by Taimur bin Feisal, Sultan Taimur bin Faisal in 1913 but it fell into disuse during his successor's reign. Said bin Taimur, Sultan Said bin Taimur created some military medals but the current system was created by Qaboos bin Said, Sultan Qaboos bin Said throughout his fifty years on the throne. The statutes of the orders were codified by Royal Decree No. 7/2011 and amended by No. 70/2012.
