Mike Reiss
Michael L. Reiss ( '; born ) is an American television comedy writer and author. He served as a show-runner, writer and producer for the animated series ''The Simpsons'' and co-created the animated series '' The Critic''. He created and wrote the webtoon '' Queer Duck'' and has also worked on screenplays including: '' Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs'', ''The Simpsons Movie'' and '' My Life in Ruins''. Early life Reiss, the middle child of five, was born to a Jewish family in Bristol, Connecticut, United States. His mother was a local journalist and his father was a doctor. He attended Memorial Boulevard Public School, Thomas Patterson School and Bristol Eastern High School and has stated that he felt like an "outsider" in these places. Reiss studied at Harvard University. Sam Simon
Samuel Michael Simon (June 6, 1955 – March 8, 2015) was an American director, producer, writer, animal rights activist and philanthropist, who co-developed the television series ''The Simpsons''. While at Stanford University, Simon worked as a newspaper cartoonist and after graduating became a storyboard artist at Filmation Studios. Simon submitted a spec script for the sitcom ''Taxi'', which was produced, and he later became the series' showrunner. Over the next few years, Simon wrote and produced for ''Cheers'', '' It's Garry Shandling's Show'' and other programs, as well as writing the 1991 film ''The Super''. Simon turned to fields outside television in his later years. The fourth season of the American animated television series ''The Simpsons'' originally aired on the Fox network between September 24, 1992 and May 13, 1993, beginning with " Kamp Krusty". The showrunners for the fourth production season were Al Jean and Mike Reiss, with the season being produced by Gracie Films and 20th Century Fox Television. The aired season contained two episodes which were hold-over episodes from season three, which Jean and Reiss also ran. Following the end of the production of the season, Jean, Reiss and most of the original writing staff left the show. A showrunner (or colloquially a helmer) is the top-level executive producer of a television series production who has creative and management authority through combining the responsibilities of employer and, in comedy or dramas, typically also the head writer, script and story editor. ''Sledge Hammer!'' is an American satirical police sitcom produced by New World Television that ran for two seasons on ABC from September 23, 1986 to February 12, 1988. The series was created by Alan Spencer and stars David Rasche as Inspector Sledge Hammer, a caricature of the standard "cop on the edge" character. Setting The series takes place in San Francisco, California, with parts of Los Angeles used as a stand-in for filming.
