Michael A. Pringle (born October 1, 1967) is an American former professional gridiron football, football player. A running back, he had a successful career in the Canadian Football League (CFL), during which he set or tied almost every significant List of Canadian Football League records, league records for the position. He played college football for the California State University, Fullerton Cal State Fullerton Titans football, Titans and was twice signed by National Football League (NFL) teams, though he saw very limited playing time. Along with George Reed (Canadian football), George Reed and Johnny Bright, Pringle is one of the players most often mentioned as being the greatest running back in CFL history. He is the emeritus professor of general practice (GP) at the University of Nottingham, a past president of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), best known for his primary care research on clinical audit, significant event audit, revalidation, quality improvement programmes and his contributions to health informatics services and health politics. He is a writer of medicine and fiction, with a number of publications including articles, books, chapters, forewords and guidelines. After completing his training at the Sonning Common Practice in rural Oxfordshire, Pringle continued his general practice career at the Collingham Medical Centre, Nottinghamshire, which was one of the first practices to become computerised and where he remained until retirement. Mike Pringle (born 25 December 1945) is a Scottish Liberal Democrat politician. He was the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Edinburgh South from 2003 to 2011. Background He was born in Northern Rhodesia (modern-day Zambia), and educated at Edinburgh Academy. He is a keen follower of Heart of Midlothian F.C. and was a strong supporter of the campaign to prevent the sale of the club's Tynecastle stadium in 2004. He is a strong supporter of the Free Tibet Campaign and has introduced a Bill into the Scottish Parliament to introduce a levy on plastic bags in Scotland similar to the successful Irish plastic bag tax. He has been an Honorary Vice-president of English-Speaking Union Scotland. Political career From 1992 to 2003 he was a member of the City of Edinburgh Council.
