Mike MacDonald (photographer)
Mike MacDonald (born 1960) is an American photographer, photojournalist, speaker, author and conservationist. MacDonald's photos, primarily featuring prairies, savannas and other natural habitats around the Chicago metropolitan area, are internationally published. MacDonald's photographic technique blends concepts from landscape and macro photography to create a three-dimensional, immersive effect in his work. In 2015, MacDonald authored the coffee-table book '' My Journey into the Wilds of Chicago''. Chicago nature MacDonald's work primarily focuses on the natural habitats of the Chicago area. ''My Journey into the Wilds of Chicago'' is a photo-literary coffee table book by Mike MacDonald, with forewords by Bill Kurtis and Stephen Packard. The book is a visual and educational journey through the prairies, savannas and other natural areas in the Chicago metropolitan area. The book contains more than 200 photographs and nearly two dozen essays and poems written by MacDonald about Chicago's wild side, ranging geographically from the lakefront to prairie lands just north of the border in Wisconsin, to Kankakee, Lockport, Batavia and McHenry County. The Chicago metropolitan area, also colloquially referred to as Chicagoland, is a metropolitan area in the Midwestern United States. Stephen Packard
Stephen Packard (born 1943) is an American conservationist, author, and ecological restoration practitioner active in the Chicago area. Packard began his career in restoration ecology in 1977 as a volunteer with the "North Branch Prairie Project" in Cook County, Illinois. The project is now known as the North Branch Restoration Project. In 1978, he became a field representative for the Illinois chapter of The Nature Conservancy (TNC-Illinois). From 1983-1999, he was the Director of Science and Stewardship for TNC-Illinois. Packard founded the Audubon Chicago Region chapter in 1999 and worked for this organization until 2014. The chapter has since expanded to encompass the Great Lakes region and is now known as Audubon Great Lakes. Bill Kurtis (born William Horton Kuretich; September 21, 1940), is an American television journalist, television producer, narrator, and news anchor. Kurtis was studying to become a lawyer in the 1960s, when he was asked to fill in on a temporary news assignment at WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas. His reporting on a devastating tornado outbreak led to an on air news reporter and later a very successful news anchor position in Chicago. He has been noted for his sonorous voice throughout his career. In the early 1980s, he anchored '' The CBS Morning News'' in New York City and became especially interested in investigative in-depth reports and documentaries.
