Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders
The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders are the men's and women's athletic teams at Middle Tennessee State University, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. MT athletic teams participate in NCAA Division I ( Bowl Subdivision in football) in Conference USA. MT competed in the Ohio Valley Conference until 2000, and the Sun Belt Conference until 2013. Nickname The nickname 'Blue Raiders' was coined by an MTSU football player, Charles Sarver, in 1934 ''Daily News Journal'' contest. No official nickname existed prior to 1934, when teams were called "Normalites," "Teachers," and "Pedagogues". Derek Mason
Derek Mason (born September 29, 1969) is an American college football coach who is currently the head football coach for Middle Tennessee State University. He previously served as head coach at Vanderbilt University from 2014 to 2020. Early life and playing career Mason attended Camelback High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Richard Wilson Stockstill (born December 23, 1957) is an American college football coach. He is an offensive analyst for Florida State University, his alma mater, a position he has held since 2024. He was the head coach at Middle Tennessee from 2006 to 2023. Stockstill was a Florida State quarterback under coach Bobby Bowden from 1977 to 1981. Alysha Angelica Clark (; born July 7, 1987) is an American-Israeli professional basketball player for the Seattle Storm of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, sometimes referred to as Women's March Madness, is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States, currently featuring 68 women's college basketball teams from the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), to determine the national championship. Rick Insell (born June 5, 1951) is the current head coach for the Middle Tennessee State University women's basketball team. Career He was the head coach of the Shelbyville Central High School girls' basketball team for 28 seasons. Kermit John Davis Jr. (born December 14, 1959) is an American college basketball coach who was most recently the head coach for the Ole Miss Rebels from 2018 to 2023. The National Invitation Tournament (NIT) is an annual men's college basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
