Microsoft AI For Earth Programme is a private project launched in July 2017 that uses Microsoft AI for earth and people related studies. Microsoft has allocated a $50 million budget for the programs. AI for Earth has developed "the Planetary Computer", it offers APIs, data catalogs through azure storage and open source tools. Initially Microsoft had invested $2 million but then started a "expanded strategic approach". Microsoft Research (MSR) is the research subsidiary of Microsoft. It was created in 1991 by Richard Rashid, Bill Gates and Nathan Myhrvold with the intent to advance state-of-the-art computing and solve difficult world problems through technological innovation in collaboration with academic, government, and industry researchers. ITU AI For Good
AI for Good was established in 2017 by the International Telecommunication Union, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations (UN) agency for digital technologies. The platform is co-convened with the Government of Switzerland and in partnership UN agencies.
