Mick Poole (speedway Rider)
Michael Garth Poole (born 27 November 1966) is a former international speedway rider from Australia. Speedway career Poole won a bronze medal at the Australian Championship in 2001 and won the Longtrack title the same year. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1985 to 1994, riding for various clubs, but spent most of his time with Peterborough Panthers. In 1988, he helped the Peterborough win the Fours Championship during the 1988 National League season. In 1989, he helped the Peterborough win the Fours Championship again, during the 1989 National League season. He was part of the Peterborough team that completed the treble of league, knockout cup and fours during the 1992 British League Division Two season. Also in 1992, he finished runner-up in the British League Division Two Riders Championship, held on 19 September at Brandon Stadium. 1992 British League Division Two Season
The 1992 British League Division Two season was contested as the second division of Speedway in the United Kingdom. Summary Berwick dropped down from division 1 but the league lost two teams with Mildenhall Fen Tigers and Milton Keynes Knights both withdrawing from the league in June and their results were expunged. Mildenhall however did complete their Gold Cup fixtures. The BSPA withdrew the Milton Keynes speedway licence following complaints over the state of the track and several days later on 24 June, the club was wound-up. The title was won by the Peterborough Panthers. The season had a sad end when on 13 September Wayne Garratt crashed riding for Newcastle Diamonds against Peterborough. He suffered a brain injury and was placed on a life support machine but died 15 days later. Taylor Nicholas Poole (born 15 July 1992) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Australia. Career Poole made his British leagues debut during the 2010 Premier League speedway season, where he rode for Stoke Potters. The following season in 2011, he signed for Ipswich Witches for the 2011 Premier League speedway season. He was part of the Ipswich team that won the Premier League Four-Team Championship, held on 23 October 2011, at Beaumont Park Stadium. He stayed with Ipswich for the 2012 season and also won the Australian Under-21 Individual Speedway Championship. 1994 British League Division Two Season
The 1994 British League Division Two season was contested as the second division of Speedway in the United Kingdom. The British League Divisions 2 and 3 were disbanded after this season and did not return until 1997. An Academy League was introduced. Summary Rye House Rockets did not start the season because the promoters Roger Shute and Peter Redfern left the club leaving Ronnie Russell in sole charge. Russell failed to secure the necessary funding to continue and the Rockets were disbanded. The league title and knockout Cup was won by the Glasgow Tigers, who achieved the feat of recording the 'double double' (the league and cup double for two consecutive seasons). Gary Allan (speedway Rider)
Gary Karl Allan (born 21 June 1967) is a British born former international speedway rider from New Zealand. He earned two caps for the New Zealand national speedway team. Speedway career He was introduced to speedway by his father Gordon “Goog” Allan who rode for the Newcastle Diamonds from 1964 to 1968. His older brother Glenn was also a speedway rider. The family moved from New Zealand to Brisbane when he was 14 and he began riding speedway there when he was 17. In 1987 he was the inaugural winner of the Australian Under-21 Championship. In February 1988 he also won the New Zealand under 21 Championship before moving to the UK to ride for the Poole Pirates in the National League. He broke his leg in his first season with the Pirates, but returned in 1989 and stayed with the team until 1991.
