Michael Leslie Jones (born 27 December 1944) is an English musician, songwriter and record producer, best known as the founder and leader of the British-American rock band Foreigner (band), Foreigner. Prior to Foreigner, he was in the band Spooky Tooth. Early life Michael Leslie Jones was born on 27 December 1944 in Portsmouth, England. Jones started playing guitar at an early age, and decided to pursue a career in music. Career He began his professional music career in the early 1960s as a member of the band Nero and the Gladiators, who scored two minor British hit singles in 1961. After the demise of Nero and the Gladiators, Jones worked as a songwriter and session musician in France for such artists as Françoise Hardy, Sylvie Vartan, and Johnny Hallyday, for whom he wrote many songs, including "Je suis né dans la rue" and "À tout casser (song), À tout casser" (which features Jimmy Page on guitar). Released on Atlantic Records, this album included Billy Joel and Carly Simon as guest singers. Joel sang with Jones on the song "Just Wanna Hold" and Simon sang with Jones on the songs "That's the Way My Love Is" and "Write Tonight". It is widely believed that the co-composer "M. Michael Geoffrey Jones (born 26 June 1955) is a British musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer best known as co-founder and lead guitarist of punk rock band the Clash, until his dismissal by frontman Joe Strummer in 1983. In 1984, he formed Big Audio Dynamite with Don Letts. Jones has played with the band Carbon/Silicon along with Tony James (formerly of Generation X and Sigue Sigue Sputnik) since 2002 and was part of the Gorillaz live band for a world tour in 2010. Man (band)
Man (also known as The Manband) are a Welsh rock music, rock band. The group were formed in November 1968 by Micky Jones (guitar and vocals), Deke Leonard (guitar and vocals), Clive John (guitar, keyboards and vocals), Ray Williams (bass guitar) and Jeff Jones (drums), in Merthyr Tydfil, out of previous local band The Bystanders. Mickey Jones (June 10, 1941 – February 7, 2018) was an American musician and actor. He played drums with acts such as Trini Lopez and Bob Dylan, with whom he played on his 1966 world tour. He became a founding member of The First Edition with singer Kenny Rogers, and played on all of their albums. Overall, Jones played on 17 gold records from his musical career of over two decades. After the break-up of The First Edition in 1976, Jones concentrated on his career as a character actor, where he made many appearances in film and television. Michael Jones (24 March 1947 – 9 August 2022) was an English professional footballer and coach. Playing career Jones started his career as a central defender for Derby County, then managed by Brian Clough, and moved on to Notts County in 1969. Having played a key part in County's promotions in 1971 and 1973 he then moved on to Peterborough United later that year and helped the club to the Division Four championship in his first season, before leaving the country. Managerial career Jones spent a brief spell as player-coach at now defunct Canadian outfit Ottawa Tigers in the National Soccer League, before he returned to England in 1976 to fill the manager's role at Kettering Town, initially as player-manager. A successful spell at Kettering saw them in the FA Trophy final in 1979 and after losing the final to Stafford Rangers, he had his first taste of league management at Mansfield Town. Michael David Jones (born 23 July 1963) is an English retired athlete who competed in the hammer throw. Athletics career Jones competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics finishing in 22nd place. He appeared at five Commonwealth Games. He represented England at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland and eight years later represented England, at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. A third games appearance ensued representing England, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he won a silver medal in the hammer.
