Michigan Attorney General
The attorney general of the State of Michigan is the fourth-ranking official in the U.S. state of Michigan. The officeholder is elected statewide in the November general election alongside the governor of Michigan, governor, Lieutenant Governor of Michigan, lieutenant governor, Secretary of State of Michigan, secretary of state, members of the Michigan Senate, Senate and members of the Michigan House of Representatives, House of Representatives. Since the Michigan Constitution of 1963 was adopted, the attorney general has served a term of four years. Dana Michelle Nessel (born April 19, 1969) is an American politician and lawyer, serving as the Michigan Attorney General#List of Attorneys General of Michigan, 54th Michigan Attorney General, attorney general of Michigan since January 2019. She is a member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. Whig Party (United States)
The Whig Party was a mid-19th century political party in the United States. Alongside the Democratic Party, it was one of two major parties from the late 1830s until the early 1850s and part of the Second Party System. As well as four Whig presidents (William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor, and Millard Fillmore), other prominent members included Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, Rufus Choate, William Seward, John J. Crittenden, and John Quincy Adams (whose presidency ended prior to the formation of the Whig Party). The Whig base of support was amongst entrepreneurs, professionals, Protestant Christians (particularly Evangelicals), the urban middle class, and nativists. Charles Upson
Charles Upson (March 19, 1821 – September 5, 1885) was a politician from the U.S. state of Michigan. Upson was born in Southington, Connecticut, to Lydia (Webster) Upson (1781–1861) and Asahel Upson (1783–1867). He attended the district and select schools of Southington and later taught school in Farmington from 1840 to 1842. He married Sophia Upham on August 4, 1852. Upson studied law at the Yale Law School in 1844 and moved to Constantine, Michigan the following year. He taught school in 1846 and 1847 and became deputy county clerk of St. Joseph County in 1847. He was admitted to the bar in 1847 and commenced practice in Kalamazoo. He served as county clerk from 1848 to 1849 and prosecuting attorney from 1852 to 1854. Jacob, later known as Israel, is a Hebrew patriarch of the Abrahamic religions. He first appears in the Torah, where he is described in the Book of Genesis as a son of Isaac and Rebecca. William Hale (Michigan Attorney General)
William Hale (18091874) was a Michigan politician and attorney. Early life Hale was born in 1809 in Oneida County, New York. Career In 1836, Hale moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he was admitted to the bar that same year. Hale was first elected as a member of the Michigan Senate from the 1st district on November 4, 1844. He served in this position from January 6, 1845 to 1846. Hale then served as a prosecuting attorney from 1846 to 1849. Hale was the Michigan Attorney General from 1851 to 1854. Edward Mundy
Edward Mundy (April 14, 1794 – May 13, 1851) was an American politician and judge from the U.S. state of Michigan, and served as its first lieutenant governor. Early life Mundy was born in Middlesex County, New Jersey, and graduated from Rutgers College in 1812. In later years was for one of the appointed Regents of the University. He was admitted to the bar and began a practice in New Jersey. and was for several years one of the appointed Regents of the University.
