Michel Champagne
Michel Champagne (born 4 May 1956) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a businessman, political scientist and teacher by career. Early political experience Champagne was the mayor of Saint-Séverin-de-Proulxville from 1981 to his election for the progressive-conservative in 1984. Member of the House of Commons Champagne was among moderate supporters of the Quebec sovereignty movement, who gave a chance to the beau risque approach in the aftermath of the 1980 Quebec Referendum. He successfully ran as a Progressive Conservative candidate in the Quebec riding of Champlain in the 1984 and was re-elected in 1988. Champagne was a member in the 33rd and 34th Canadian Parliaments. The Parti Québécois (PQ; , ) is a sovereignist and social democratic provincial political party in Quebec, Canada. The PQ advocates national sovereignty for Quebec involving independence of the province of Quebec from Canada and establishing a sovereign state. Festival Western De Saint-Tite
The Festival Western de Saint-Tite is a major annual event held in September, in Saint-Tite, Quebec, Saint-Tite, Quebec, Canada. Voted "Best Outdoor Rodeo in North America" since 1999, Saint-Tite's festival, now in its 52nd edition, attracts around 600,000 visitors every year. It developed from a rodeo inaugurated in 1967 to promote the leather industry. It hosts a major rodeo competition, along with other cultural events. During the two weeks of competition, the entire town shuts down to accommodate spectators. History In 1967, a Saint-Tite company specializing in leather work organized a rodeo as a marketing operation on a local sports ground. Julie Boulet
Julie Boulet (born June 16, 1959 in Saint-Tite, Quebec) is a Canadian politician. Boulet is the current Member of National Assembly for the Quebec riding of Laviolette in the Mauricie region. A member of the Quebec Liberal Party, she was Minister of Transports (2007-2010) and Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity (2010-2012) in the Charest government. Boulet attended Université Laval and obtained a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. In the community, she was the chair of the town's main festival, the Festival Western de Saint-Tite which takes place in early September of each year. She is also a volunteer of the festival for 12 years. Boulet was a Liberal candidate for the federal riding of Champlain in the 2000 elections but lost by 15 votes to the Bloc Québécois. Laviolette (electoral District)
Laviolette () was a provincial electoral district in the Mauricie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It includes the city of La Tuque and its urban agglomeration, some parts of the city of Shawinigan, and various other municipalities. It was created for the 1931 election from part of Champlain electoral district. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it gained Lac-aux-Sables and Notre-Dame-de-Montauban from Portneuf electoral district. Following the change in the 2017 electoral map, the riding was dissolved into the new ridings of Laviolette–Saint-Maurice and Champlain.
