Michael Martin (Australian Footballer)
Michael Martin (born 25 February 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Footscray and the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Martin played originally at Hobart and represented Tasmania at the Teal Cup in 1994 when he won the Hunter Harrison Medal. As a result, he was picked early in the 1994 AFL draft, with Footscray's first selection and made his league debut at just 18 years of age. The Tasmanian initially found it difficult to find a place in the midfield but played finals football in 1997, finishing the year as a participant in the club's two-point preliminary final loss to Adelaide. He played all 24 games in 1998 and again suffered the disappointment of appearing in a losing preliminary final side although he accounted for himself well with 21 disposals. Hobart Football Club (nicknamed The Tigers) is an Australian rules football club based in Hobart, Tasmania. They play their home fixtures at the TCA Ground on the Queens Domain, in Hobart and from 2014, the club has been a member of the Southern Football League after voting to withdraw from the Tasmanian State League at the end of the 2013 season after five seasons in that competition. Daniel Giansiracusa
Daniel Giansiracusa (born 11 March 1982) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). He had been used in various positions such as the midfield, half back flanks and half forward flanks. He currently serves as the defensive coach of the Essendon Bombers. Playing career Giansiracusa was selected by the Bulldogs in the 1999 AFL Draft with pick 32. He made his senior debut in round 11, 2001 against Adelaide at Football Park, and joined a special group of players when he goaled with his first kick. After an exciting start to 2005 he missed 6 weeks due to injury but returned and ended up kicking 23 goals for the year. Trent Bartlett
Trent Bartlett (born 26 November 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Brisbane Bears, Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Bartlett captained Tasmania in the Teal Cup and was playing for Deloraine when he was picked up by the Brisbane Bears, with the 45th selection of the 1993 AFL Draft. He was used at centre half back at the Bears and spent some time as a key forward when he switched to the Lions in 1998, only after sitting out of football in 1997 with an ankle injury. He was traded to the Western Bulldogs in 2000, for Michael Martin and played 21 games for the season. As a tall forward, he kicked five goals in a win over Carlton that year. The AFL Under-19 Championships (for sponsorship reasons, the NAB AFL Under-19 Championships) is an annual Australian national underage representative championship in Australian rules football tournament. It is seen as one of the main pathways towards being drafted into a team in the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). The National Championships grew out of the Teal Cup which began in 1953 as a junior representative competition between the Australian states of Queensland and New South Wales. It was rebranded in 1976 to reflect its expansion to include teams from each Australian state and mainland territory, rotated between host cities.
