Michael Dean (born 1977) is a British artist. In 2016 he was shortlisted for the Turner Prize. Early life and education Michael Dean was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, in 1977. He graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2001 with a BA Fine Art (Studio Practice and Contemporary Critical Theory). Art practice and career Dean's work often incorporates materials symbolic of urban renewal and social decline, reflecting personal connections to British working-class communities and the socio-economic history of his native Newcastle upon Tyne. He lives and works in London. Dean's sculptural work is focused on typefaces. Nominations and awards In 2016, Dean was a Turner Prize nominee. Michael Dean (broadcaster)
Michael Dean (15 May 1933 – 5 October 2015) was a New Zealand-born television broadcaster from the 1960s to the 1980s, best known for his work for the BBC in the United Kingdom, but who worked in his native New Zealand and in Australia. Biography Born in Palmerston North in 1933, Dean was the son of Mavis Eileen Dean (née Mason) and her husband, general practitioner Kenrick Holt Dean, a grandson of Robert Holt. He was educated at Palmerston North Boys' High School and joined the local newspaper as a cadet journalist. Aged 20, he became ill with tuberculosis and spent a period in a sanatorium. He spent a year in South Africa as a newspaper sports reporter in Cape Town, before returning to New Zealand to work for the New Zealand Broadcasting Service. After a period in Sydney, Dean moved to the United Kingdom and was a presenter for eight years on the BBC2 discussion programme '' Late Night Line-Up''. Michael Lee Dean (born in Dallas, Texas) is an American clarinetist and university professor. He studied at the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and Texas Tech University. Gang Green
Gang Green is an American punk rock band originally from Braintree, Massachusetts. Chris Doherty (guitar), Bill Manley (bass) and Mike Dean (drums) started the band in 1980 and broke up in 1983. Doherty reformed Gang Green the following year, and the band experienced numerous lineup changes until its dissolution for the second time in 1992. Doherty has been the band's only constant member and has kept Gang Green active from 2005 onwards. The band was influential in the formation of the East Coast hardcore punk scene, and went on to become one of the forerunners of crossover thrash and speed metal in the late 1980s. Thomas Michael Dean (born August 24, 1963) is an American musician, best known as the former bassist and occasional vocalist of heavy metal band Corrosion of Conformity. He is also a member of Lightning Born, a four-piece out of Raleigh, North Carolina, formed in 2016. Career Dean sang on Corrosion of Conformity's early recordings from their crossover thrash era before leaving the band in 1987. In 1989, Dean, along with C.O.C. guitarist Woody Weatherman and Brian Walsby on drums, released the Snake Nation album via Caroline Records. Dean rejoined C.O.C. as the bassist and occasional vocalist in 1993 and remained with the band until 2024. Mike Dean (born December 26, 1955) is an American politician from Alabama. Dean attended B. C. Rain High School and played for the American football team as a linebacker. He played college football for William Carey College, but left college without graduating in 1979 to help with the family hauling business after Hurricane Frederic. Michael DeVinko Jr. (September 24, 1934 – July 11, 2003), known as Mickey Deans, was an American musician and entrepreneur. He is best known as the fifth husband and widower of actress and singer Judy Garland. Career He was a disco owner, jazz pianist, and drug dealer.
