Michael Davidson (born December 18, 1944, in Oakland, California) is an American poet. Life and work Davidson has written eight books of poetry as well as numerous historical, cultural and critical works. He has been affiliated with the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) since 1974 and as a professor of American literature since 1988 with areas of study and research in Modern Poetry, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, and Disability Studies. Davidson served as the first curator of the Mandeville Department of Special Collections (UCSD) where the George Oppen papers are stored. Michael Davidson (born July 20, 1963 as Michael Jay Davidson in New Jersey) is a singer and songwriter. Career American-born Michael Davidson was signed to Sire Records on the recommendation of Andy Warhol, after the pair became acquainted during a mutual visit to France. Davidson won the record deal after presenting a number of songs he'd cowritten, including his most well known track, "Turn It Up". "Turn It Up" was produced by Stock Aitken Waterman and Phil Harding and became a dance hit in 1987. The song was featured in the Madonna movie ''Who's That Girl''. Unlike the movie, the soundtrack to ''Who's That Girl'' became a big international success, spending many weeks in the Top Ten Album Chart in the United States, Europe and Asia. Released on July 21, 1987 the album sold almost 5 million copies worldwide, of which 1 million in the US (Platinum). Michael Childers Davidson (24 February 1897 – 19 November 1975) was a British journalist and memoirist. Life and work Davidson was born in Paddington, on 24 February 1897, into an upper-middle-class family but he was brought up in Guernsey from the ages of one to eleven when the family moved to Bitterne in Hampshire. He was educated at Lancing. Davidson joined the army in 1914 and was wounded at Paschendaele in 1916. After the war, he made an unsuccessful attempt to set himself up as a farmer in South Africa. In 1922, he became a newspaper reporter, initially in Norwich. In 1928, he moved to Berlin where, apart from a stint as a proof-reader in the International Labour Office in Geneva, he was to remain until 1933, supporting himself as a translator of leftist books and articles. Michael Joseph Davidson (born 18 October 1970) is a former English cricketer. Davidson was a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Penrith, Cumberland. Davidson made his debut for Shropshire in the 1989 Minor Counties Championship against Wales Minor Counties. Davidson played Minor counties cricket for Shropshire from 1989 to 1995, which included 28 Minor Counties Championship appearances and 3 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. Michael James Davidson (born 20 July 1963 in Whangārei) is a former freestyle swimmer from New Zealand, who swam for the University of Alabama and won the bronze medal in the men's 400 metres freestyle at the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
