Mezcla
Mezcla is a music group from Cuba. Mezcla Mezcla has been a part of the Cuban music scene for the past twenty-five years. Mezcla was featured in the Smithsonian Institution's documentary on Latin Jazz ''La Combinacion Perfecta''. The band has participated in festivals throughout Europe, Latin America, and the U.S. At the jazz club La Zorra y el Cuervo, they have performed with musicians who are visiting for the Havana Jazz Festival. These musicians include George Benson, Felipe Cabrera, Steve Coleman, Roy Hargrove, Giovanni Hidalgo, Wynton Marsalis, Dafnis Prieto, Orlando Sanchez, Yosvany Terry, and Chucho Valdés. Barbara Jean Spillman (May 12, 1927 – October 20, 2024), known professionally as Barbara Dane, was an American folk, blues, and jazz singer, guitarist, record producer, and political activist. Havana Times
''Havana Times'' is a Cuban Digital Newspaper and online magazine founded in 2008. The online publication is edited in Nicaragua. Most of its contributors live in Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo. There are also Cuban contributors in Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Ecuador and Mexico and volunteer translators in the Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom. Overview The project began as early as 2007, and the magazine was launched 2008 in Cuba, with Circles Robinson as editor. Robinson, a US native, moved to Cuba in 2001. Larry Coryell (born Lorenz Albert Van DeLinder III; April 2, 1943 – February 19, 2017) was an American jazz guitarist, widely considered the "godfather of fusion". Alongside Gábor Szabó, he was a pioneer in melding jazz, country and rock music. Gonzalo Rubalcaba (born May 27, 1963) is a Cuban jazz pianist and composer. Early life Rubalcaba was born Gonzalo Julio González Fonseca in Havana, Cuba into a musical family. Pablo Milanés Arias (24 February 1943 – 22 November 2022) was a Cuban guitar player and singer. He was one of the founders of the Cuban nueva trova, along with Silvio Rodríguez and Noel Nicola. His music, originating in the Trova, Son and other traditional styles of early 20th Century Cuban music, set him apart from the style of Silvio Rodríguez. Silvio Rodríguez
Silvio Rodríguez Domínguez (born 29 November 1946) is a Cuban musician, and leader of the Nueva Trova movement. Chucho Valdés
Dionisio Jesús Valdés Rodríguez, better known as Chucho (born October 9, 1941), is a Cuban pianist, bandleader, composer and arranger whose career spans over 50 years. An original member of the Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna, in 1973 he founded the group Irakere, one of Cuba's best-known Latin jazz bands. Both his father, Bebo Valdés, and his son, Chuchito, are pianists as well. As a solo artist, he has won seven Grammy Awards and four Latin Grammy Awards.
