Mexico-Syria relations are the bilateral and diplomatic relations between the United Mexican States and the Syrian Arab Republic. The nations of Mexico and Syria established diplomatic relations in 1950. Both nations are founding members of the United Nations. History In the early 20th century, several thousand Syrians emigrated from the Ottoman Empire (for which Syria was a part of at the time) to Mexico. Many of the Syrian emigrants were of Jewish origin primarily from Aleppo and Damascus. Several prominent Mexican intellectuals, politicians and businesspeople are of Syrian origin. Cancún

Syrian Mexicans are Mexicans of Syrians, Syrian origin. History In the early 20th century, several thousand Syrians emigrated from the Ottoman Empire to Mexico. 2023 Turkey–Syria Earthquakes
On 6 February 2023, at 04:17 Time in Turkey, TRT (01:17 Coordinated Universal Time, UTC), a 7.8 earthquake struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Ba'athist Syria, Syria. The epicenter was west–northwest of Gaziantep. The earthquake had a maximum Modified Mercalli intensity scale, Mercalli intensity of XII (''Extreme'') around the epicenter and in Antakya. It was followed by a 7.7 earthquake at 13:24. This earthquake was centered north-northeast from the first. There was widespread damage and tens of thousands of fatalities. The 7.8 earthquake is the largest in Turkey since the 1939 Erzincan earthquake of the same magnitude, and jointly the second-largest in the country, after larger estimates for the 1668 North Anatolia earthquake. José Antonio Meade
José Antonio Meade Kuribreña (; born 27 February 1969) is a Mexican politician, economist, lawyer, and diplomat. He served as a cabinet minister under President of Mexico, Presidents Felipe Calderón and Enrique Peña Nieto in a variety of portfolios, becoming the first Mexican official appointed to cabinet five times.
