Mexico–Sweden Relations
Mexico and Sweden are both members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the United Nations. History Initial relations between Mexico and Sweden began in 1850 when a Swedish consulate was opened in Veracruz City. On 29 July 1885, the ''Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation'' was signed between the two nations. In 1956, the Swedish embassy in Mexico City opened. In 1980, Mexican President José López Portillo paid an official visit to Sweden. In 1982, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia of Sweden paid an official visit to Mexico. The monarchs would later pay a second state visit to Mexico in 2002. There have also been several high levels visits by Mexican presidents and Swedish prime ministers to each other's countries respectively. Carlos Salinas De Gortari
Carlos Salinas de Gortari CYC DMN (; born 3 April 1948) is a Mexican economist and politician who served as 60th president of Mexico from 1988 to 1994. Affiliated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), earlier in his career he worked in the Secretariat of Programming and Budget, eventually becoming Secretary. He secured the party's nomination for the 1988 general election and was elected amid widespread accusations of electoral fraud. Oxen are commonly castrated adult male cattle; castration inhibits testosterone and aggression, which makes the males docile and safer to work with. Gösta Ingvar Carlsson (born 9 November 1934) is a Swedish politician who twice served as Prime Minister of Sweden, first from 1986 to 1991 and again from 1994 to 1996.
